People will abuse the system. You have to consider the alternative as well.
Oh shite - I just saw I am responding to you again.
I'll save the reasoned response I had in mind, because you are not worth the effort.
So I'll just answer the question about the alternative = "Get a job or starve to death.'.

I'd probably still do her. I wouldn't want to be seen in public with her though.

VP and GI bill worked out great for my career and i didnt even sniff anything close to combat. In fact, my current job is far more demanding.

I've often thought about living off of welfare. Just leave my job. I haven't had lobster in 20 years. Cant afford it. It's a luxury food in my opinon.
Welfare life could provide me a better life than my 2 degrees has thus far. I wouldn't have to pay gor health, dental, or vision and I would get a huge tax refund. I could get a free phone and government help with my rent and utilities!!
But I have pride and morals.

That's the thing. People used to be at least somewhat embarrassed when they got in a situation where they needed even temporary welfare. Now we have folks who outright brag about "workings for suckas"

Anyone else notice the dog didn't eat the lobster?

Dogs will eat seafood. But if you really want to treat your dog grill him a nice NY strip steak... medium/well. And don't trim any of the fat.

Seems like there is a lot of Red Lobster being brought up lately.

Yes, if you have only one dog. I have to avoid a steak with a bone because I have 2 dogs and a fight will occur. With a boneless steak I simply cut it in half.

steak with a bone
I was at a pig roast one night at a friend's house. Everyone was pretty well lit. Was feeding the yard dog all the bones he could eat. Poor bastard died two days later from all the bone fragments cutting up his insides. That was the vet's assessment.
I never fed another bone of any kind to a dog.

I think it's a logical outcome.
In the past the "moral" response was that an individual was responsible for him/herself and his/her actions. Folks were "too proud" to accept charity.
Now one can argue that under the new "morality" one would be immoral not to get every single freeby for one's family. Why would you not and disadvantage yourself or your family? I know why we shouldn't and the path is unsustainable but I can see the logic, especially if that's how it's been for your family and community for generations...
