The Incredibles isn't a superhero movie. It is, but it's a Pixar movie, and it's genre is Pixar, not superhero. Stupid to compare it to these movies.
So what if it’s a Pixar movie? The Incredibles is a Top 5 superhero movie. It really is a visionary movie that predicted pretty accurately how things would be 10 years down the line.
Posted on 11/8/17 at 9:14 am to OMLandshark
The point of The Incredibles is more focused on emotions, like every Pixar movie, not being a superhero, like a superhero movie is.
what the hell does this even mean? it's a kids movie that revolves around being a family.

I didn’t find WW to be preachy by even the slightest bit.
The only way that Wonder Woman would seem preachy is because we've drifted so far from films like Superman: The Movie and The Rocketeer.

Then The Dark Knight doesn’t meet those criteria. It’s just a crime drama and a monster trying to corrupt 3 people when you boil it down.

I mean, that’s a major theme, but it predicted the rise of the superhero movies for film, and really the fight upon American families by Commie assholes. The Incredibles morals and themes clearly sit on the right side of the aisle.
And when everyone’s super...

That list is 100% Rotten

It didn't predict the rise of superhero films. It was a product of the rise of superhero films.
The Incredibles steals from some of the best superhero comics ever (Fantastic Four, Watchmen, America VS the JSA).
It's 100% a superhero movie, from its borrowed themes throughout its execution.

Also, did they even rate Watchmen!?
Yeah, it's cartoon counterpart made the top 10.

First Avenger, Thor 1, Ant-Man, even Avengers all have the feel of solid superhero adventure films. Certainly, Iron Man's/Favreau's prints are a significant chunk of the MCU, but those specific films, like Wonder Woman, do call back to a classic feel.

I would agree. Those 2 are in their own league.

Think that list is just recency bias all over it. Too many "all time" movies on that list came out in the last year.

Top 10 in NO ORDER
Batman Begins - It's better than TDK as a Superhero movie
Captain America: Winter Solder - is the best at blending a grounded approach to Superheroes, while still keeping it comic-based
Superman 78 - Because it's the most hammy, classic film for superheroes. It hasn't held up well but I still love it
The Avengers - If I were forced to choose, I usually say Superman 78 as the top, but this film on follow-up views is just so perfect as a Superhero film that it deserves a spot.
Hellboy: The Golden Army - I think it's the best made film in the genre, hands down
Spider-Man 2 - Feels like a comic book
X2: X-Men United - Singer and the X-Folks best outing. Took a great story and compressed it down to a singular film.
Batman 89 - Burton's style was perfect for the time. Great film.
Logan - The best deconstruction of the comic book film
Guardians of the Galaxy - Both big players have large cosmic stories and characters, and no film has captured that like GotG. It gets here on that point mainly.
Just missing: First Class, Deadpool, DoFP (I've changed my tune on the Rogue Edition rewatch), GotG2, Civil War, Sin City, Batman Returns, Batman MoP

i re-watched this a few weeks ago and holy shite is this movie awesome. it's one of the most creative visual movies i've ever seen, if not #1
GdT was killing it 2002-2008

Exactly. And the story is just perfect. I think it is vastly underrated in these discussions. I'm going to lean Avengers/Superman 78 just because they are more directly "superhero-like," but Hellboy 2 is superior to nearly every film in the genre. I think it's just as well made as TDK and Logan, while the lighter tone and more fantastical setting just brings a better comic-book feeling.
Notice, there's a schism where a lot of people want to say TDK, Logan, Winter Soldier, or some of the X-Men Films as the best - and all of these films make some kind of attempt to ground "comic books," in reality. And while that can work, and most of these are fine films and some are perfect examples of blending it - Logan and WS, I just feel they get away from what makes Comic Books different. And in some cases, just too far away. Classically, CB's are not about making things "more real."

well i like the gritty/real stuff but i can also enjoy GOTG/Hellboy movies too if they're done well
Winter Soldiers probably blended the 2 the best, though. you had fantastical, comic book shite and it was pretty grounded in real concerns/motivations
sometimes the comic booky films need more grit, though. avengers 2 was utterly hamstrung by Disney. if you are basing an entire plot line of 4-5 movies over the effects of your super heroes, then you have to do it up (Logan really did this well). i've only watched avengers 2 once and it has such a stink in my head that i may never watch it a 2nd time
