He did stay home from work during the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal so he didn’t have to report bad news on Clinton. It’s said that he was home soaking in a bath because he was to distraught to go to work.

It actually is a psychological issue in that it is a preference for angry narrative over objective truth. Anytime you prefer an alternative reality in which everything conforms to a pre determined narrative you have an issue . Olbermann and Progs in general are suffering psychologically and feeding additional psychological suffering because they find comfort in numbers . And thus Trump is Hitler and they all get to get through the day.
