LG C7 is the king right now, and LG is doing a $200 off promotion until the 11th, bringing the 55" to $1800 and the 65" to $2800

I have the Samsung KS8000, which is one of the best 2016 models. make sure you get something with low input lag, or else you're in for a rough time. check out rtings.com

My xbone x is supposed to arrive friday, and i've been wondering (haven't found any info online) if those who already have theirs have been able to notice if they've fixed the HDR issues with Netflix?

On the One S the second you open the app it triggers HDR settings and stays on permanently. Whereas, only HDR titles you select on Netflix should trigger that setting.

Not a huge deal, but was wondering if anyone has noticed this on the new xbox. I'm not sure if that's even an Xbox issue, it might be a netflix app development issue on their side. Not sure who is to blame for that. They fixed the amazon app a while back so you could finally watch 4k content in 4K, i'm just wondering if the netflix app will be fixed too.

Don't know if I want to drop that kind of coin on it. Bang for buck wise, I've looked at the TCL 55P607 and it looks pretty decent. Don't know about the input lag though.

Possibly the Sony X900E too.

This will be $999 on Black Friday at Best Buy. Is it a big deal it doesn't have Dolby Vision support?

I'm not even entirely sure what that is, so

As I understand it (and I may be wrong) there are two HDR formats. HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision is the better one that not every HDR tv supports. Maybe someone smarter than me can come along and educate us. Just curious how it will effect Ps4 Pro and XBX.

Huh, interesting. I think the TCL is dolby. For $650, that is seeming like a hard deal to pass up. Looking at the reviews, for gaming it is right up there. Seems sports it may perform a little worse, but I don't know how adept I'd even be at noticing it.

I am friends with a Sony dealer and he can get me things at cost. Looking at getting 65" 930E

I can get it for $1500 but have no clue about recent TV technology to know if this is what I should be going for.

This should help you. They have a good chart with ratings of 32 tv's.

So what I have learned. HDR10 takes metadata for a game/program and adjusts to make the scenes look better for that program. Dolby Vision works the same way but it takes scene data and adjusts throughout so that every scene is optimized. Add on to that HDR10+ is looking like a new technology that does the same thing that Dolby Vision does.

In the end, I have no clue how much of a difference any of this makes. I tend to get caught in the weeds in researching things that probably won't affect me much.

Trust me, I end up spending more money on shite because its a good deal

Appreciate the link. Glad to see it ranks up there. I don't think viewing angle would deter me if it saves me $1000

He actually is setting up one in his showroom this week so I will get to go take a look at it.

I wonder if HDR10 tvs will issue updates for HDR10+? Saw where Sony issued updates for some tvs for DV but some processors couldn't support it.

As of now I think I'm gonna grab the Sony x900 unless I see a better deal when more BF ads leak.

Saw some discussion on some forums but didn't lead to any actual acknowledgment. I did see some past models were upgradable to HDR10. Who knows. (I am speaking on Sony models)

Yep. That's where I'm torn. The TCL 55" P607 is only $650. Gaming wise, it is right up there. Its main detractors are viewing angle, sound, and color uniformity. Sound, I don't care much about as I have a headset for gaming. Viewing angle, shouldn't be much of an issue. My only concern is how bad will the picture be for watching football and stuff. Will it really be that noticeable, and for $500-$1000 less, is it worth that?

The last main TV I purchased was a 58" Samsung Plasma from 2008. I am pulling the trigger on whatever is best for the money. I looked at the Sony OLED but damn that is a lot of extra cash for something that is not all that much better (to a layman like myself). Quality will last you a lot longer and I have no clue the TCL build quality.

The ones I have purchased over the last 3-4 years are still chugging along like they're new

Is that an online deal or just in store? I'm assuming just in store?
