Vin Scully said Saturday night that he will “never watch another NFL game” in response to the ongoing demonstrations by some players during the national anthem.

I have only one personal thought, really. And I am so disappointed,” Scully said, according to multiple videos of the moment posted on social media. “I used to love, during the fall and winter, to watch the NFL on Sunday. And it’s not that I’m some great patriot. I was in the Navy for a year. Didn’t go anywhere. Didn’t do anything. But I have overwhelming respect and admiration for anyone who puts on a uniform and goes to war. So the only thing I can do in my little way is not to preach. I will never watch another NFL game.”

the NFL has more problems than the neo cons boycott. the uber libs and many African americans are boycotting also. then there are cable cutters and those that just are tired of NFL on every damn night (oversaturation). imo, the NFL got too big several years ago; way too many casual fans and people that planned their whole week around being a frickin' spectator.

I quit going, watching and even reading about the games several years ago and haven't looked back once. I couldn't tell you who won the superbowl the last 5 or 6 years ago. my sundays have never been better. I don't sit around on my arse all day and drink beer anymore. it's a big plus.

as far as i'm concerned the NFL can just go out of business; they are a non factor in my life.

I know a lot of people who are done with the NFL, and what I find to be vast majority of haters have one thing in common with Vin Scully--which cannot possibly be a coincidence:

Most of them are bitter old white men who aren't in the coveted demographic anyway and will be dead within 10 years.

I don't get how kneeling for the anthem is equated to shitting on the military. Do they have some ownership over the anthem and flag? Are they especially sensitive?

I understand why many people are unhappy with the kneeling, but not why it has anything to do with the military.

I don't care what Vin watches.

I've encountered so many people who claim they're never going to watch another NFL game, even though they never watched football to begin with.

Well, bye.

Also majority of the people I have seen who have suddenly claimed they are boycotting the NFL were never really fans to begin with. I reckon the NFL isn't really losing any hardcore fans, only the casual fans/bandwagons who probably couldn't name a single player on their team besides the qb.

Is this a surprise? He grew up in a time of wars and patriotism. People who think like him are indeed a dying breed.
