from Dandy's recap of the Coach Eaux show.

quote:

At this point in the show, host Chris Blair asked whether offensive coordinator Matt Canada will have the first few offensive plays scripted. Orgeron answered affirmatively, saying Canada always scripts the first 15 plays but that they can change then based on what the defense is giving them and what’s working.

Wonder what he has in store for the tide.

Anything in the passing game needs to happen FAST.

LSU needs to run all 15 in scripted order to have a chance.

True or False?

Did Les and Cam even have 15 scripted plays for Alabama? I can't think of more than 3 or 4

Even if the plan is to run the same play on each of the first 15 plays the first 15 plays are scripted.

Just because you script plays doesn't mean they're all different.

Outside the fact you are athletically superior to your opponent in almost every position, I have no clue why coaches do this.

Poker/chess strategy for later possessions in the game is all I can think of.

Les could script the entire game. He wasn’t going to deviate much.

Uh, yeah. That's the whole point.

It's very difficult for defenses and DCs to make wholesale adjustments while the game is going on. That's why you always hear about "halftime adjustments."

OCs script plays that they think will work well against a defense based on what tendencies they see on film.

It's a big reason that you see less-talented teams jump to early 14-0 leads against superior opponents.

Every coach runs scripted plays. Do you idiots not know what this means?

They have 15 plays that are intended to get the defense to react in different ways. They will run all 15 and Canada will write down how the defense reacted to each. He will then use this data to call plays the rest of the game, hopefully getting the defense to bite on a fake he setup earlier. This is coaching football 101.

Canada needs to use guice as a decoy early. The D will key on DG chark and DW. Motion chark and guice a ton and get eyes on them. Then hit Davis SS or Dee in one on one situations and let them go up and get one or two big plays early. Back those gumps up
