Went to check on the camp today. As i was enjoying a cup of darjeeling on the swing by the boat dock, under the clear blue 70 degree sky, the smell of burning wood ensconced me like velvet, but with an unvelvetine sensation.

Why must people burn on such glorious days? Don't people enjoy outdoor activities sans the smell of burning cypress and pine? Can't they burn on cloudy days? Haven't been that upset since my maid left her condensated bottle of water on my new coffee table right..next..to the coaster.

Tell me about it. This past Sunday we were hanging out on our back porch trying to enjoy the beautiful weather and a neighbor starts burning a fire! And he was putting plastic on it too. Smelled terrible and made our whole house stink.

Fall. The smell of burning leaves. Pumpkin lattes. S’mores. A campfire. Boy Scouts. Sex in a sleeping bag. (Not with a Boy Scout, but his mom)

Nothing beats the smell of burning off cane fields on a day like today.

No point in using euphemisms we all know it was the ammonia wafting from your neighbors single wide as he off-gassed his latest batch of shake and bake meth.

Get yourself a country estate instead of a camp. No problems with neighbors.

The smell of burning wood/organic smoke only enhances a beautiful day for me. The smell of plastic/trash burning is awful though.

The smell of burning wood and leaves is what I hoped for when I moved to the "country". I grew up smelling that when camping and going out to my great uncles 40 acres in MS. All good memories.

I think most people associate those smells with positive thoughts and feelings of a rural life. Its weird that it bothers you.

FWIW, people who burn plastic and other petro products should be shot. That shite seriously sticks.

I like the smell of a nice fire, and the crackle of a fireplace on winter’s night.
