They have 2 common opponents (Arkansas, Ole Miss) and they did about the same.

Rushing vs. Ark
Bama: 43 att, 308 yards
Auburn: 47 att, 345 yards

Passing vs. Ark
Bama: 13/21, 188 yards passing
Auburn: 21/30, 284 yards passing

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Rushing vs. Ole Miss
Bama: 51 att, 365 yards
Auburn: 51 att, 326 yards

Passing vs. Ole Miss
Bama: 15/24, 248 yards passing
Auburn: 14/21, 235 yards passing

If these numbers are any indicator, and we can hold Bama to around 20 (held Auburn to 23, but 0 in the 2nd half), then it's on Canada to manufacture 21 against the best defense we'll face all season.

The problem with Bama is if you stop them on running downs and they pass on 3rd, Hurts can take off for 20+ yards and move the chains/score TDs multiple times per game. No, he is not a real good passer, but I think he actually makes them harder to beat than if they just had a straight-up pocket passer that can throw.

To me it kinda looks the exact same. Spread principles mainly focused on the running game with short, immediate passes to keep the defenses honest for a little bit then BOOM! Here they go with a bomb right over the top. Bama is better obviously because of the threat Hurts is with his legs.

I'm just hoping Aranda can dial up something special like he did with Dwayne Thomas last year. I hope Corey Thompson is getting healthy again.

Mixing blitzes with White and Thompson like we did last year with Riley and Thomas looks like a solid formula.

It was definitely the difference in last years game.

That, a few no=calls on obvious holding and us continuing to try running an injured Fournette at them.

I truly think auburn is a more dangerous offensive team but unfortunately Bamas defense is likely gonna be the difference.

If you can stop Hirts scrambling for first downs on 3rd and long you can stop Alabama . Of course you still have to score against their defense.

Which means you either have to play more zone or put a spy on him. Or both.

Personally I think we can stop Hurts. The question is whether we can score on their defense.

The difference isn’t that their offense is better but their defense gets the ball back so quickly and so often that they wear you out by the end of the game. Auburn is a different team when they have Cam Pettway too.

Dial up some well designed blitzes on every 3rd down and let everybody else play man.

Yes, Auburn has 2 running backs carry the load with one speed guy getting reverses and jet sweeps, Alabama uses their QB, and 3-4 running backs and then by the third quarter their 2nd and 3rd stringers are in the game. Alabama is much better than Auburn on both offense and defense. Were not any better than last years team that couldn't score, and we gave up 153 yards rushing with 5.5 ypc to the worst rushing team in the SEC last week.

Offense: Edge to Bama

the difference is in the D and the lines, specially the center of their line(s)

We completely shut him down passing last year and did a good job of containing him most of the game, but he still ended up as their leading rusher averaging over 5 ypc with 100+ yards (however, he got some help on the big TD run in the 4th). If we could get anything going on offense though, he might start pressing and make more mistakes.

You do realize they were playing the best passing offense in the SEC and had to give up something to manage the game. Their ground game had very little effect on the game. Would you feel better if they had given up 153 passing yards and less than 100 rushing?

The defense will be be the healthiest its been all season with depth along the line.
