I wonder where USA Today got that $8MM buyout figure from? I understood it was $12MM this year.

ETA - at least through the end of the year. If the buyout falls to $8MM on 12/1/17 as they implied, that's pretty significant.

I love how you have the highest salary paid as a great deal. Not saying you're wrong because Saban is definitely worth it, but it just sounds funny saying that

Are Stanford and TCU confirmed? Private schools don't have to make salaries public

The pay information for Shaw and Patterson came from federal tax returns.

It gets even better when you realize the $11MM is due to a $4MM signing bonus. His salary is closer to $7MM.

He also gets free housing since the Crimson Tide Foundation bought his home in 2013.

Yeah, honestly from a pure financial standpoint where does it become "too much" for Nick Saban? Even if 11 mil was the base salary, it'd still be a bargain tbh

I remember in like 2012 when $5 million was considered basically top tier. Amazing that it's more than doubled in 5 years.

I honestly can't believe Kirt Ferentz is making 4.5 million at Iowa

Amazing how they so highly view him there.

Scott Frost making $2MM/year, 56th on the list, and has UCF 10th in the Massey Composite.

Notre Dame also getting one helluva bargain if we're to believe the $1.6MM paid to Brian Kelly.

While I agree it is a little high, who else could Iowa reasonably get? Kirk usually has Iowa at a respectable level. Get another coach, and it could be some very dark days. I feel he has been worth every penny so far.

They probably put in conditions for upping of pay if he meets certain criteria

And the B1G keeps giving him coach of the year for some reason

So thats probably part of it

F King was all for having a lower paid coach
Thankfully Miles didn't win another title and LSU would be out $11 m per year.

A couple of interesting things that stood out to me that haven’t been mentioned yet:

Dabo Swinney’s buyout is at $40 million. I love Dabo but that is ludricus.

Virginia Tech is getting a deal with Justin Fuente.

It’s surprising to see how much a service academy is paying Ken Niumatalolo. I would’ve never expected a service academy to spend that much money on a football coach.

hell man, he's not coached that many games yet. if you count his time at usc and lsu and he starts winning 10 games a year he indeed may have other opportunities.
