My buddy has one on the driver side of the console in the leg area. Anyone know where I can get one of these? Seems very convenient.

What kind of effort does it take to pull it off? Magnet has to be pretty strong I'd imagine.

Kind of a twisting action pulls it off easy enough. There's a polymer coating so no worries about scratching.

I don't own one of these but I've been doing some research on them. Seems like a quality product. They have some videos on YouTube.
Take a look at the mag bar

I have the same one. Just got it so don't know how good it works yet. They claim 35 lbs. Also I'm not worried about scratching because it has a rubber coating over the metal.

I have it mounted on my center console so that the barrel rest on the carpet and the magnet is on the right side. I have that one mounted in my Excursion which isn't exactly know for a cushy ride and it holds until the road turns to Braille.

Dara Holsters, and probably others by now, make holsters that work with RAM mounts. I dont have any experience with them, but to me that's always looked like the best option for the 'I need a gun by my legs in my vehicle' type folks.

I've had a CoJo magnet mounted under my dash for years. Works great.

Is this one of those cop killer gun holders?

Word of Warning:
Do NOT let an iPhone or iPod get near this magnet!
I have one in my Yukon and the magnet unfortunately ate my old iPod classic for lunch. I saw it slip onto the magnet and when I grabbed it to change the song it just went through each song like there was no file there. The magnet really messed up the hard drive.
I haven't seen it happen to an iPhone but if the magnet managed to mess up the hard drive on my iPod I don't see how it wouldn't do the same for the phone. I also don't want to be the first to find out.
As for the magnet itself, it's covered in rubber and is pretty strong. But I've actually used it a lot less than I expected.

The only gun that I've had any issues with is my Glock 17 fully loaded with a TLR1s. If I hit a big bump or have to make a sudden stop, it breaks free on occasion.

Thanks for the heads up. I use an iPod classic too so I'll be careful not to let them near each other.

I'd be surprised if it caused a problem with a phone since there's no hard drive. But you never know.
