That seems like a bad quote for Trump.

So, you're saying that people that sign up for a voluntary military duty don't understand that there is the possibility they may be placed in harm's way?

Truth hurts sometimes unfortunately. Bad optics tho and not how a person with any sense of empathy should address a grieving person

Especially when you leave off half the statement on purpose to change the context.

Is he wrong?

Need more context, anyway.

I'm not a Trump fan at all but the full quote:
quote:

"he knew what he signed up for ...but when it happens it hurts anyway,"

doesn't sound bad to me. Sounds like he was saying "even though he knew the risks that doesn't make you feel any better."

a man would understand this

but I can see why a widow would flip out

Cue up the “ what he said was correct” defenses from the trumpkins. With that being said, I have a hard time believing even Trump would mess up this badly. Do we have his entire statement to her? Probably not though.

Did he fumble? Yep, but I can't imagine having to call these folks and speak to them about their recently deceased family. Family that I had sent into harms way. We all know Trump is not polished or smooth like Obama or Clinton, but anyone who believes he said that in order to hurt those folks is full of shite.

No frick you. I fought in more than one war and knew exactly what could happen....... but went anyway. The quote chopping trying to make his words to a grieving widow making him look bad.

Makes you look worse.

Well, I'm not going to rely on the secondhand word of the democrat representative speaking for the widow.

I’d like to think I don’t need to preface anything with an “even though I can’t stand the president,” but this seems like a cheap political shot. It was honestly probably more along the lines of “your husband went bravely into this situation. He knew what he signed up for and did it anyway.” I wouldn’t advise releasing these recorded calls on account of what the families suffer, but someone should clarify. I honestly won’t buy that he’s that callous or cynical.

Consider the source.

Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami Gardens

She allegedly “overheard” him say this eavesdropping on someone elses conversation. Not buying it, sorry.

Fake news.

You honestly believe that is all he said in that sentence. I pity you if you do.
