i actually thought this was horrible. too long, poorly shot, poorly edited, poor sound design, and Kitsch is the only person with a modicum of gun-handling skill

Lol you didn't approve of Rachel madams sprinting after a vehicle while shooting? Haha i agree But Kitsch alone in that scene killed it. Other than him there was some weak points to the scene.
I just like the chaos it shows. What happens when you fail to achieve fire superiority and let a bad situation get worse. Plus when that fat drunk cop got his head caved in like a canoe (tombstone) it took me by surprise how real it looked.

Kige the mentions of Heat and NCFOM.
The scene in Unforgiven is still good with a dozen re-watches. "...he should have armed himself if he was going to decorate his saloon with my friend."

Heat bank robbery scene. Thought this scene had realistic weapons handling especially for a 90's movie.
And then two years later you had the real thing with the North Hollywood Shootout.

And also, most badass use of a gun in cinema:

How did I forget that!?
Tip of the cap to you, that scene and any movie that shows Sarah Silverman getting sucker punched in the face by a dude.

Does Band of Brothers Assault on Brecourt Manor Count?
One of my favorite scenes of the Series.

Wild Bunch final shootout
This for sure.
Also, not sure if this counts as a shootout, but hard not to think of The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.

Lots of great ones mentioned already...
I also like the shootout near the end of Enemy of the State. Tom Sizemore and his mafia family vs Jon Voight and his NSA mercs.
