Have we not learned our lesson?

Anyone chiming for Miles as AD seriously needs to get their head checked. Why not actually hire a proven AD that's done this successfully in the past? Why would you even consider Miles trying the job when he's never done it before? LSU shouldn't be a playground for these guys to practice and learn.

Why create a new thread for this?

We did pretty well under Skip. Pretty sure he hadn't been an AD before

agreed but I would be all for him doing it temporarily if we fire Joe in the next week or two. We're already paying him, he's well liked in the AD aside from Joe, would show stability on a national level, and would make the snake O sweat even more
we lost Nunez recently who was probably the most capable of handling it. Verge is a good dude and all....but nah.

Also, I think the reason people entertain the idea is because it's pretty clear Les loves LSU, loves Baton Rouge. And it's evident Joe Alleva loves neither.

I'd love to run the Playboy Mansion now that Hef is gone.
It's like saying, my kid wrecked the Honda Accord I bought him for graduation, so I'm going to let him drive my Porsche for a while.

If Miles became our AD I would quit being a fan. I love Miles the person, and if I knew Orgeron was the replacement I wouldn't have wanted him fired, but we need to stay away

The only benefit I can see right now to bring Miles back as AD would be to lure in Mike Gundy, which I think would be a great fit.
It might not be bad. We already have Wade, all Miles would need to do after securing Gundy is keep them happy enough to stay, and raise a shithouse full of money for the next decade or so until he wants to legit retire.

Les loves LSU and BR. He is a stand up guy and I trust him.
HOWEVER, Les does not have the skill sets needed for the job, particularly on the business side. In addition, for all the good qualities Les has, he has shown an inability to dismiss staff who underperform (because of his strong sense of loyalty) and a lack of flexibility in dealing with challenges.
Terrible fit at AD.

Disagree
Would be a great hire, if he would take it
Ex football coaches that played and coach make good ADs.
Mark Emmert would be other wish.

Exactly, nice guy, but his time was done. Fired coach promoted to AD a year later at same university. I can see the headlines.

The current regime makes Les Miles look like a Rhodes Scholar, but I absolutely would not want Les as the AD. And I agree - LSU is significant enough, even these days, that they shouldn't just be an opening for on-the-job training. Get someone who is experienced and knows what they're doing.

Now Skip was the GOAT of LSU and national baseball.
But he was a compromise hire and as close to abysmal as you can get but then they hired Joe to keep Skip off the bottom.
He started the money grab fan rape that people complain about today. He halted all on campus parking and tailgating, which ruined it forever.
Skip was a terrible AD and if you don't realize that then you have your answer as to how LSU hired Joe and how you at the time thought that was a good idea. Then wound up with Ed in the end.
It was all done under the auspice of this is an arms race and we need money people not traditional fans and everyone bought in. Now they complain about what these new fans don’t do for the program, they don't stay to the end, they don't show up. You can thank Skip for starting this crap.

Yea skip also hired smoke laval and conducted a horrible coaching search in 04 that landed Miles when much better options were available

Mike Gundy?!
In his 3rd year at OSU he lost to TROY 23-41! While we're at it, why not just promote Coach O to full time AD?

Lovable, goofy Les Miles, eating his grass, "WOOW!" "my damn strong football team..." love it.
Head of a $910,000,000.00 "franchise?" Hell to the fricking no. What gives anyone the idea that Les Miles, God bless him, National Championship and all, is capable of being the CEO of the fifth largest college athletic program in the country, worth nearly a BILLION dollars???
