Was Paddock a magician?

We are told that Paddock had an escape plan. After spraying bullets for 10 to 15 minutes, exactly how was he going to get out of that hotel. I can understand an escape plan after targeting a handful of victims when it would have taken considerably longer to pick up on his location. Was he planning on leaving all of the weapons and ammunition behind? Smart enough to place cameras in the hall, but dumb enough to think he had any chance to get away. Doesn't sound remotely possible.

Blow up the tanks of aviation fuel.
Huge explosion.
Mass confusion, possibly many more deaths.

The CIA told him he was going to have an exfil team but they double crossed him to make him the patsy.
Classic CIA stuff, man.

Maybe Rappel out the other window?

I would imagine he was hoping those fuel tanks exploding would distract police away from him. Once the security guard dispute happened, it put a wrench in his escape and he knew he wouldn't make it out alive. My guess

This is going to be a long investigation, let it unfold that way. There's really no need to speculate at this point

A magician? I doubt it. A demoniac.....maybe. His GF said he moaned and screamed in his sleep, "Oh my God!" Yikes.

except as someone with knowledge of planes and aviation fuel, he would know that a simple bullet rupture would not cause the tank to blow.
god you are ignorant.

Really? He fired shots directly at it. Guess he just saw people crawling all over it and was trying to hit them instead.

I would think that, if he could get out of the room before they actually got up there, he could walk out into the hallway and just look like any normal guy. In all of the confusion, I could see it. Even once they eventually figured out who he was, he would have been gone.

Police were on the 32nd floor in 12 minutes. No one was going to leave that floor without a lot of scrutiny.

“The bullets left two holes in one of two circular white tanks. One of the bullets penetrated the tank, but did not cause a fire or explosion near the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, another knowledgeable source said late Wednesday.“

The security guard is the one who interrupted his plan I imagine. From what I understand, he was able to find the room pretty quick. When paddock shot him, he was able to radio his location and the location of the shooter. I think the cops descended on his location much faster than he had anticipated.

Even without the security guard finding him, i still don't understand how he was planning to escape. If I recall correctly, the room was in the girlfriend's name so maybe he planned on that being enough of a diversion to escape the country.

Once the hotel had been identified as the shooter's location, I do not think anyone could have left that hotel without scrutiny. IDs would have been matched with a guest list and room number. And if you were on the 32nd floor you were not going anywhere.

He used his real name for a reservation at the Blackstone in Chicago, for which he was a no show.

Plan was to get the hostages to the roof, then blow the roof. By the time the FBI gets done sorting out the casualties, he is long gone.
