^^^^^THIS^^^^^^

That interior area of Florida south of I-10 until almost Orlando makes all other backwards inbreds seem almost normal!

I've been 5 times, mostly good experiences...but I will allow I'm not as sensitive as most about opposing fans.

Only on one visit in 2008 where they obliterated did I find behavior toward us bad and only then because I had my 12-year old niece with me and there was some salty language.

But they have a strip of bars and restaurants in close proximity to the stadium and the co-eds there are all about showing off the cleavage, so I mostly enjoyed all of my visits.

I have lived in Gainesville for over 10 years and always wear my LSU stuff for the game. Never had a problem once at our tailgate. Don't act a fool and you will be fine.

Also, for everyone saying how bad Gainesville is, I have lived in both Baton Rouge and Gainesville for a good amount of time in each place. Gainesville >>>> Baton Rouge.

It's the worst trip in the SEC

Others have piled on enough with the details.

I factor in distance to my answer so for you that's not an issue.

8 of my buddies and I took an RV down for the 14-6 game back in 2012. If it wasn't for the fact that we knew some people graduated from UF. We would hvae had a terrible time. The university police target LSU fans as far as drinking goes. Especially once you get into the heart of campus.

Some of their bars can be hit or miss. But given the fact that they won that game. They were pretty obnoxious.

If you can't have fun in Nashville, something is wrong with you.

LSU hasn't played @ Missouri yet

I've been in Jax since 1990 and have been to every LSU-UF football game in Gainesville since then. You will be fine as long as you don't act like an arse and bring trouble on yourself. It's true that the cops down there are assholes, but keep your beer in a colored solo cup and act normal and you'll be fine.

I'm in Atlanta and have been to every LSU-UF game in Gainesville for 15 years. And I agree with LSUJax.

All the horror stories you'll see in this thread are probably due to people acting like idiots. Just don't be an arse and you'll be fine (and that's good advice for just about everything in life).

And to the morons who don't like The Swamp - they're wrong too. Great stadium, very loud, and a great environment for college football.

And remember that I don't like UF either, but I won't deny that the Swamp is a great environment. Not so such the town, but the campus and stadium are nice.

I went my freshman year of college and I brought a cool denim LSU Coozie that my girlfriend had given me. I was drinking out of it but when it came time to go to the stadium I shoved it in my pocket (obviously without a drink in it). At the (non student) visitors gate, I was harassed and patted down and they took the coozie out and asked why I wanted to bring it inside (as if it would suddenly sprout an alcohol drink once I got past them). I basically told them to shove it and they let me bring it in but they were definitely being dicks about it.

I have went twice and had mostly positive experiances. In 2010 I was even invited to a UF tailgate. They actually had an LSU trap which was basically a corndog in a bear trap. We laughed, and I said you would be better off putting a beer in it. Tailgated with them all game and hosted them in Baton Rouge the following year.

I only had two negative things happen in Gainsville.

1) A fan threw a half eaten apple at us at a Supermarket parking lot before the game.
2) A drunk college kid took his taunting a little too far. I am all for some gator chomps and a little this and that but he was pretty drunk.

Other than that, it is a beautiful campus, and a great stadium. The cops CAN be rude but if you are minding your own business and not causing a scene, you should have no problems. No lie we found a Publix shopping cart on campus and rolled it around all day with our ice chest full of beer. We got a lot of laughs and had no issues.

went in 2008. they beat our arse by 30, but it was the entire day of "tailgating" that ruined my trip. the cops are assholes, people were "tailgating" in bars all day and their fans were douches towards the girls in our group.

not making another trip there for the rest of my life.

If you're drinking, the campus PD will seek you out and mess with you (and be oblivious to the home fans that are doing literally the exact same thing) and end up making you pour your drink out.
