It is ~580. I just checked the grade/class list.
I'll look again. There are 3-4 main homeroom classes per grade with ~20 kids in each.
ETA: 610 for 2017-2018

Yeah, good info. Late 90s STM had four classes per grade with about 30 kids per class.

Enrollment plummeted while I was there from about 600 to less than 300, and we took on an increasing number of voucher students. Lots of teachers left or retired, so turnover was very high. I came into high school woefully underprepared in science because we had no steady curriculum in those subjects with
Looking back, I probably wouldn’t have been surprised if teachers like Gauthier, Wagner, and Blackwell retired shortly after I left. They seemed to be getting there in age at the time.

I don't know what year you graduated (I did in 2010), but Blackwell retired after my 7th grade year (2008-09) and Gauthier basically had to unretire to teach us 8th grade science part-time since they were so short on staff. Both were great teachers. Gauthier did all she could to catch us up on material we didn't get in previous grades.
I never had Wagner. Think he left or retired when I was in like 5th grade. Heard great things about him, though.

I went there in mid 60's to early 70's. Great memories.

Man that is awesome, something to be proud of. It was well managed and there was never any drama that I can recall there. Just good clean fun, it was awesome. I'm glad this thread was made, I'm not in Louisiana anymore, so it's nice to pick up on news like this. This thread kinda hit me in the feels. Thanks for bringing up the softball fields

When enough of the voucher kids don't pass the state tests (LEAP) the state pulls the schools right to vouchers. I'm sure that's what happened at SLKF. That is what happened at redemtotist. If you can't have vouchers and you can't fill the seats with paying customers you have to shut down. No way STM wants all of those voucher kids. And they do not have to accept them.

I went to school there in the early 80s. I remember the day a nun smashed two little kids head together in the middle of assembly. I was shocked to say the least.
Holy shite. I was there too. I was just talking with a friend about this on FB. It was crazy. I wonder if we know each other. How old are you? I'm 42

It's sad that the school is closing, but why is the King of France running a private school in the middle of EBR?

Ms. Coleman was great. She was actually the first women's basketball and volleyball coach at LSU before retiring and teaching at St. Louis

Meh, I don't really care who reads my posts on TigerDroppings. I barely post, and when I do it's mostly on the Soccer Board. I don't post anything that could get me in trouble with anyone important.
Maybe one day I'll switch to a more anonymous profile, but it's not a pressing concern.

Alello won't be able to stop the mass exodus of paying customers from STM after they flood the school with vouchers students

St. Isidore church is still open. St. Pius recently closed though and St. Isidore took in a lot of their Parishoners
