MSU is a damn strong team that, if not injury stricken, will challenge for the West title. it is Mullens MO. 2014 was his last strong team. he can't just "reload" like Bama so his team success is cyclical. this year, he has an experienced and talented qb along with a damn good OL and DL and the other supporting staff.
LSU, on the other hand, is rebuilding. YES, rebuilding. our task to rebuild is not as daunting as MSU's and we should be able to do it faster. losing Pocic and Teuhuma was huge and we are breaking in new guys on the OL. and not only did our D lose 4 incredible experienced starters but our DL has 3 injuries, 2 of which are our best guys. we have one damn young defense and they NEED a healthy DL to succeed.
I know some of you are going to say LSU should be able to just "reload" and I hope we get to that point one day but we simply aren't there now. freshmen OL and back up DL along with freshmen LB and secondary is not reloading, it's rebuilding.
I think the talent is there and think this team will end the year much improved. I know some fans want perfection and they want it now but it just isn't going to happen. it is what it is. firing everybody now is a stupid notion and if you truly believe that you will never be happy as a fan.

You think it's just a coincidence that we hired a coach who's only previous tenure was marked with failures exactly like this one?
And we only had this happen twice in our previous 12 seasons.
And then three games into his current tenure we experience a massive failure?
Yeah probably a coincidence. This is what people signed up for with a O, a man famous for failing miserably. Had the hire been Fleck, Brohm, Fuente, Taggart, Venables, etc. everyone would be agreeing they get more time

Of course it isn't a coincidence. It is part of a grand master plan by Alleva and King to ruin LSU football.

None of the above would have lost to MSU. The powers that be know this which is why they weren't hired.

I have become convinced that the "cooler heads" have enough sense to stay away from this board for a while after this kind of loss.
I don't get the expectation of perfect seasons, 500 yds offense per game, and 0 points scored by the opponent.
These are kids. I have 2 this age. They frick up. It's not a reason to fire everyone who wore a headset Saturday night.

well, you can use this ONE GAME as a final determination of coach O and THIS team but i'm going to give him and THIS team more time to improve.
what happened at ole miss 10-15 years ago doesn't have dog shite to do with LSU presently.
you and your ilk have made up your mind and refuse to look at the situation objectively. open up your mind man. dave aranda and matt Canada are very good coaches. both have a tough situation on the lines. when your trenches are weak your team is weak. when Lawrence and alexander get healthy I think you see a much improved D. as far as the O goes, it's going to take some time to break in that new line and the young WR's. but hell, that's the price we have to pay since Miles and CC fricked up the offense and it's recruiting.

you are absolutely correct. for some strange reason I have decided to stay and "fight" for common sense and against emotional reaction. I need to give up and go get something productive done.

The team gave up mid-way through the second quarter.
The weak-mindedness and lack of focus were a direct reflection of Orgeron quitting. A rout ensued.
Les employed an overall outdated strategy and was incredibly stubborn. But his teams never gave up like that.

Can we play any worse after giving up mid-way through the second quarter?
Of course, this team can play better. They have the talent to beat anyone. That's not the issue.
It's whether their coach can take a shot to his chin and keep coaching or will he stand on the sideline with defeated body language? -- wave a white flag at that point.

So not only does O get the benefit of multiple rebuilding years, the first built in excuse, but his history has 0 value according to this. So, theoretically, if he goes 3-9/4-8/5-7, it will have in no way an indication that O is just that kind of coach, even though history tells us this, but it's just rebuilding.
As expected, O will be impossible to get rid of for some despite any evidence whatsoever.

stop! you're making too much sense, OP. the lunatics forget that last year we started at 2-2 and it didn't look like we would break 500. we lost a lot of talent off that team. Eaux did a pretty good job. the loss to Florida was hard, but the only real coaching error in that game was the decision to play Fournette when he wasnt' 100 per cent, imho.
our oline will get better. we've got some talent, but a good oline has to play together. the loss of teuhema really hurt. but they will get better.
we're also transitioning into a new offensive system. there are going to be transitional problems. if we were running last year's offense we would've done better.
we need to be lucky as far as injuries and we have been very unlucky on the DL. and the DB's were missing a lot of assignments against Moo State.
we will get better.

Well no matter if you're right or wrong about this (and I hope you're right regardless of my feelings on the head coach) we have no choice but to give him more time.

You saw the players getting tired of the shifts and motions. I mean wtf was with charks half assed fake hand offs? Like who the frick are you fooling? It was a joke.

LSU, on the other hand, is rebuilding. YES, rebuilding.
Even a rebuilding LSU should not lose by 30 to Mississippi State.
And just like State's 2014 team (maybe their best ever), this one will lose 3 games at least.

Hired?
They weren't even interviewed.
I think that's what pisses everyone off the most. The fans were told there would be a search. Yet, according to reports, the only coaches we reached out too were Herman and Fisher. So where the frick was the "search"?
I honestly don't think the "powers that be" want LSU football to fail. The program puts a shite ton of money back into the school. I think Alleva fricked this whole thing up. Give credit to O for being the best used car salesman ever. The dude managed to take control of a top tier program despite being the most under-qualified coach in the country.

You are not alone Gramps. Anyone looking at this team objectively should see that playing this many freshman points to depth and experience problems.
We flat out got our butts whipped in the trenches. There really isnt a gameplan that can make up for that kind of domination. Sure the coaches could have done some minor things to help our cause but watching that game, MSU was flat out better than us in the trenches.
2019 is the year that will be make or break for Coach O. All of our most talented players (minus key and guice) are Freshman and Sophmore. In 2019, they will be Juniors and Seniors. 2019 is the Year.
The above statement doesnt mean that we as fans shouldnt expect to see improvement and better game planning, it just shows that this year will definitely be a learning experience for a lot of our talented young bucks.

So I assume everyone in this thread was against firing les after two extremely close losses last year to the second and third best teams we played all year?
Les would've won every game O won last year. Bc they were games where we could run the ball.
As far not counting his previous history...my god. My god. The hard headedness is astounding. Take any other job where someone has previously displayed gross incompetence. You decide to give them a second chance. The first real opportunity he has to prove he's improved, he shows gross incompetence again.
Honestly, at what point do these absurd platitudes stop? How many games do we lose, and how badly do we lose them before you start realizing he's doing the exact same thing he did at Ole miss?
