Yozuri 15lb hybrid. Smaller dia than big game but stronger ans low memory. Its cheap too.

I think there is a place for every make and size string, otherwise they would discontinue it. Bass fishing I use PowerPro braid 99% except for crank baits and have tournament fished for many moons. For salt water I have used/tried every brand and size there is and all catch fish, but each have there place when it comes to what you have confidence in. For the last year I have switch to try Sufix and for me so far I really like it. Other brands I have found after a few red or specs stretching your line it starts twisting bad. So for with Sufix I notice I catch more reds and specs before line starts twisting.

I just tied braid on two of my reels. Fished with one Saturday, and had no problem with casting, and to be honest, I was surprised how well I was casting it. I didn't have a single back lash. Granted, I didn't bass fish with it for very long, but I was pleased with its performance. As far as having to cut line, I was lucky and didn't get snagged, so I can't speak for that yet.
ETA: I didn't answer the OP's question. I like 17lb or 20lb mono on my salt water reels. I can fricking chunck that 17lb a mile. Bet me.

Anything but line that advertises itself as super limp or easy cast. Stren Easy Cast is the worst line ever made.

I use momoi on all of my tackle from UL to 50w

I like the Big Game mono.
Just put some KastKing SuperKast 9 braided line on my saltwater baitcasters and no problems. An Issue to some is that it only comes in bright green

12-15# Ande all day. Caught numerous 30+ lb Redfish, jacks, sharks, drum. Not a fan of Trilene nor Stren. All my saltwater rigs have ande.

Do you have your brake set correctly? I've tried all kinds of shite and never had anything backlash any more than anything else
ETA: once I learned to set brake

It wasn't. I didn't know I had those little centrifugal brake things in there and now that I have those set right I can cast a spinner bait 6 miles regardless of what line I have.
The more you know. Half my rods have braid and a few have heavy mono right now.
I'll turn in my mariners card.

I didn't learn how to set it correctly for a long time. I spend more time fishing and less time dicking around with the string now

My brother caught it. He thought I was a dumbass until he tried to cast it and backlashed the shite out of it. In the mean time I had grabbed his curado and casted a spro frog about 50 yards with no problem.
Pulled a couple of clicky things out on my reel and now it's just as good.

12 lb is plenty strong for most inshore situations. I use big game and ande. Stay away from the h20 express academy sells. It's trash.

I think anything in the 10-20lb test range should get the job done. Its more about having the drag set correctly and letting the rod do the work with lighter test. I caught a 3.5' garfish the other day bass fishing on 10lb Flouro, and had no problem getting him in the boat, just working him with the rod, letting him take line as needed.
For my saltwater reels, I use 20lb braid on my spinning and 30lb braid on my bait casting set ups. All power pro super slick because its tough, and quiet. Sometimes I use a liter, sometimes I don't. Depends on water clarity.
My only exception is my soft plastics Duce rod with a Curado 70. I have 20lb braid on that one. It tends to dig on hook sets, but helps to launch light lures such as Berkley rattle shrimp and Vudu shrimp a lot further than I can on anything else.
In the past year I have bought 10 new set ups (had to up my game), and the lighter set ups are definitely more fun to fish for saltwater IMO.
