Why doesnt NOLA regularly have a season opening game like Dallas or ATL?

Kinda a dead time for tourists. Hotel rooms are plentiful and cheap.

Seems like an easy tourism boost for an otherwise slow time.

Labor Day in Nola is Decadance Festival and peak hurricane season

Not exactly conducive for a major football game

It depends on the team though for attendance I think

Maybe it will now lol

Tulane played in the dome up until a few years ago. That caused some issues

Labor day is not slow because of Decadence.
Don't care, I have tickets Saturday and can't wait to see the Tigers in the dome. I wish we opened in the dome every year.

Hanny and Gordy touched on this during Tiger Zone tonight. With Tulane back on campus with Yulman, if this Saturday goes well, New Orleans might try to get in on these opening weekend games.

Two reasons.

Tulane used to play at the Dome, which meant the two sides could never come to agreement on scheduling an opening season "classic". And the "wonderful" decadence fest....

Decadence Fest is actually a pretty small deal.

And gays are harmless, much better than the typical pieces of shite you see around NOLA

Have you ever been to downtown New Orleans over Labor Day Weekend?

Welp Houston will be off the board after this year too.

Gulf Coast teams should start their season on the road like northern college baseball teams do.

We don't need anymore neutral site games.

This may be part of the concern

But , it is kind of a head scratcher other than the possibility of the Tulane issue mention by other posters.

I thought I heard that they're trying to get one, but just haven't been able to pull it off yet.

Personally I think lsu should open every season in the Dome against a Power5 opponent

Fans don't feel like wearing their plate carriers in the New Orleans heat and humidity to protect themselves.
