I couldn't believe they were telling people to get in their attic with something to cut their way out last night. Incredibly irresponsible.

I can just imagine some terrified mom with a couple kids trying to cut her way out with a kitchen knife while the water rises inch by inch.

Never put yourself somewhere you can't easily escape from

I'd go with a manual tool.

Dumb question but how do you get to the roof itself?? Idk that I could climb up on ours.

If the water is high enough you can swim up there.

Hell, drag a mattress or something buoyant outside and tether it to something solid if you have to.

Yeah this morning they were saying do NOT go in the attic. Funny that they had to emphasise this.

Anybody have word on kingwood? I am across the bridge and wondering what's going on near sharkys.

Essentially every historic river crest is going to be tested. Some have already been obliterated.

The current sister in law sent a pic of the bridge closed and flooded on w. Lake Houston. The ex sister in law just posted that her street is good. She is in between kingwood Dr. And northpark.

Did the water really cover that railroad that goes over I-610?

If you ever have to escape from your attic because of rising water, a sawzall is going to be next to useless with no power. Unless it's a battery operated one which I still wouldn't trust. If you absolutely must go into your attic, bring an ax.

Berg, I came to the restaurant at 6:30 and Northpark, Woodland Hills and Kingwood Drive were good. Kingwood Drive close to 494 got deep for a while, but it is good right now.

Any clue how much it will intensify or reorganize after it makes it there?

Unreal... But maybe Houston can slip into that dry slot.

Also, flash flood warnings have extended into SW Louisiana.

I noticed that since yesterday the models have shown the system making more of a turn to the NE once it ends it's run towards the gulf.

Since this is supposed to take place over about 5 days is there a chance it changes? From the projection models I've seen it takes it dangerously close to the Gulf again and then angling toward La like the models showed last Wed

NHC has it staying as a TS through second landfall but it's entirely dependent on how long it dips over water again. The main threat will continue to be large amounts of rain on already oversaturated areas.
