So, not only was/is Andrew Jackson an evil wizard, but he also hid pieces of his soul in order to achieve immortality (possibly even after his death). I mean, New Orleans' Andrew Jackson statue is a recasting of a Washington, D.C. statute and was put up 20 years after his death.
So, either we have a really incomplete picture of Andrew Jackson's life or they're stupid. I know which one I'm betting on.
Also I like some of the ideas for what to do with the Andrew Jackson statute:
I think he means we need to erect a HUGE alligator statute with an open mouth and then place the Andrew Jackson statute inside of it to really make it stand out. Then we'd have two statues that could really draw people in for tourism. Giant Alligator and Andrew Jackson.

I'd say that it's more likely than not that Cantrell or Charbonnet will remove the Jackson statue. They're going to come into office wanting to accomplish something that Landrieu couldn't, and taking the statue down is a lot easier than turning around the city/fixing the sewers and drainage.

Cantrell will send New Orleans back to 70s level white flight. Charbonnet would give lip service to business leaders and white folk like Mitch and would contribute to the downturn. Cantrell would speed it up bigly.

While i'm more worried than I was about this prospect several months ago, I'd say at least 80% of New Orleanians would vote against removal if there was such a vote. Also, any serious mayoral candidate knows they cant succeed without some cooperation from the business community no matter how much they may pander to the poverty pimps. Going after Jackson would be suicide. New Orleans IS tourism. Both Cantrell and Charbonnet know that. They cant alienate those who really matter and loudmouth racist pan african demagogues are not those who ultiamtely wield power over how the city functions.

Having grown up in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and North Carolina, I can honestly say I've never knowingly met a member of the KKK or any white supremacy group.

Honestly...it should require federal troops to take that statue down if long time New Orleans residents and the surrounding area has any balls.
There is ZERO reason to even consider this. and to even entertain it or feel like it needs to be defended is enough to finally get those that were only halfway interested before up in arms about it.
That statue is a gigantic part of the history of New Orleans for the past 150+ years. Enough with this shite.
