What do courses have against GolfNow bookings?

I always book my tee times through GolfNow mostly because of the convienance of looking at multiple courses in the area and availability on one site. Sometimes good deals can be had as well.
Some courses tho become noticibly disturbed when you're checking in and they realize you booked through them. Is there a reason for this? Courses don't have to market themselves on the site if they don't want to.

I'd assume they don't make as much money on those bookings and would prefer you book directly with them.

They probably assume you suck.

I don't have an issue with golf now bookings... golf now, while making shopping easier for the customer has certainly been a reason for driving the rates down at courses and can be blamed partially for the demise of many courses.
What I hate is the pre-paid "hot deals". Golf now gets two tee times a day to price at whatever rate they want. Often times this is like $17 when our standard rate is $79 this time of year. Then the people who book these times show up 3 hours early and try to get out earlier than their scheduled time and are shocked when I tell them they have to wait. If you want to play at 9AM your gonna pay more than $17 loser

I worked in a pro shop and this is the biggest complaint and they get bent out of shape when you won't let them off. You make a tee time for 130 and show up at 10 and expect to go off then they leave your course a bad review because the person in the pro shop was a dick

I use Golfnow to book the best course available at the best price. Not really worth paying regular rates to play Webb when you can play a better course for less.

It's crazy bc some courses are pumped when you do it.

That's pretty messed up. They pay $17 because it's hot as cat piss in July/August which is why the tee time is $17, but they want to show up and play when it's 80 degrees outside. I'd tell them to kick rocks too just for being a cheap arse. You get what you pay for.

Yeah. Rolling up 3 hours early is ballsy.
I would never expect that. I might ask, but not expect. That's why a good clubhouse has a bar and a kitchen. Club Sandwich, draft beer, warm up and hit practice putts like a normal person.

Not sure if it's still like this but golf now gets 1-2 tee times a day on their site that they make close to nothing on. Then once or twice a week they get a free tee time where they can sell it for any price and they keep 100%.
That's how it use to be. Not sure anymore.

Do tee times ever get booked by 2 different groups of 2 and they expect to not have to play with each other?
I know most courses can usually let the group split up if it's slow, but if not, you may have to pair up.
I imagine some folks complain about it.

When I've used it in the past, the golf course would tell me to just call them and they would honor whatever price was on the site. I assume GolfNow got a percentage of the green fee.

I think on regular tee times, golf now just gets a booking fee
Most of those are pay at the course for the green fee anyway.

Best bet is to call and say I saw such and such at this rate... golf course will honor it and you don't have to pay the booking fee.

This is a big deal. For some reason, some people can't accept being paired up. They think if they make a tee time, they can play as many or as few in the group as they want.

I always book GolfNow for the really nice course an hour away in New Mexico. My home course doesnt use them.
Usually the hot deal is $10 for 18 with a cart. Incredible deal

I have used golfnow what seems like over 100 times and have never been paired up with anyone that I didn't book the deal with.
