For me, it's when guys hit a game winner or big shot off the glass and it gets celebrated as an incredible play.

If you're trying to do that, obviously it's impressive, but shots like Derrick Rose and Paul Pierce in the playoffs in 2015, Lebron against the Wiz this year, Goatbrook against the Magic in 16, etc. These guys are missing their target spot by at least a foot and it gets talked about as if it's an incredible play. It's an awesome ending, but mainly just really lucky IMO.

D Rose

Paul Pierce

Lebron

GOATbrook

Championships, unless it's golf or tennis.

ETA: With respect to individual legacies. Championships for your teams are what it is all about.

The "purity" of having pitchers bat in the National League. It's a classic case of doing something solely because it's always been done that way.

So does putting a water fountain in left field behind the shortstop, doesn't mean it's the correct thing to do.

Similar vein here, for me it's TD pass stats. ZOMG, Rodgers threw 4 1-yd TD passes on the Lions in the first half! He da GOAT! If a guy is otherwise efficient/not throwing picks and moving his team down the field (and/or has a TD vulture RB), who cares how the drive ends? Fantasy football is probably the reason for this.

Yup. Defense has 2 INTs in the first half, qb has less than 200 yards and 4 tds.

Omg he's so great!!!
