The Sewerage and Water Board is now counting a total of 16 pumps out of service as of Thursday morning (Aug. 10), raising the number of pumps from 14 that City Council members were told Tuesday were not working.

Maybe if they had a couple extra million laying around, they might've been able to fix them.

Whoever is the president of the Sewage & Water Board should be jobless.

quote:

"I can't even begin to tell you how frustrated and angry I am at the inability of the S&WB to communicate clearly," Landrieu said. "We pride ourselves in this city on everybody pulling together and everybody doing their part. ... It is clear to me that I did not receive the information I needed to make decisions" to communicate to the public.

Landrieu added that he remains unsure that he is receiving updated information as of Thursday.

"Today is not the day to go into all of those details because last night I signed an emergency order as the result of the fire" at the plant that houses the turbine, Landrieu said. He said that it was only revealed Thursday that there was not a backup power source adequate

"What I do not understand is we did not make provisions for redundancy," Landrieu said. "We now find ourselves in a vulnerable position."

The announcement was made during a special meeting called by the mayor, who serves as president of the board, to review the utility's response and to act on his request to terminate Becker and Martin.

Becker said that number doesn't include the ones down for routine maintenance and the ones not turned on and the one she that were turned on, some weren't working at their maximum capacity.

I'm tired of everyone blaming Mitch and the SWB! It's global warming that is causing this, not abject incompetence and disastrous wasting of taxpayer dollars.

The ineptness of our local democrats in lower Louisiana is at a jaw dropping all time high. Not sure why this shite surprises me when I see their Ilk day in and day out. When are the voting public going to wake up and realize elections have consequences?

If another flood happens, I am curious if an insurance company could seek to get restitution from the city. That would be fabulous.

Even President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho had working pumps to spray his fields with Brawndo! New Orleans has outdone Idiocracy.
