21 TD
17 INT
60% comp
84.5 quarterback rating

Sure the rushing numbers were nice but his passing numbers weren’t all that special.

I’ve been on team Cam when others have trashed him (he’s not Jameis Winston) but he’s not that good either. He needs a strong defense for when he turns the ball over and a run game to lean on (once in his career he’s passed over 500 times on the season). He had two more pass attempts than Dak last year... and the cowboys actively try to keep him from passing.

For reference... the last time Drew Brees had less than 500 pass attempts it was 2003 he had 500 his last year in SD.

Even when the saints are “leaning” on the run game to help keep Brees fresh, he had 536 attempts.

This is the biggest hit on Cam Newton, especially on this board. His passing has never been the best and never will be the best, but people never take his rushing into account and almost always completely disregard it as if it doesn’t count.

Barring injury, he is going to go down as the best rushing QB in NFL history.

When you look at the whole picture, he is absolutely a top 10 QB.

Cam is absolutely better than Jameis. He’s at least a franchise QB, and has the athleticism to make up for his issues as a passer. Jameis has similar inconsistent play throwing the ball, but is nowhere near as athletic as Cam.

If someone wants to have Cam in the 8-10 range I can see an argument, though I disagree. I’d put him in the 10-15 range.

Love how you just casually dismissed that caveat that was also instrumental in the Panthers' offensive improvement that season, let me just recap for you a comparison of the 2010 and 2011 Carolina Panthers so you can comprehend better:

2010 Panthers (Jim Clausen and Matt Moore as QBs):
32nd in the league in total offense
32nd in the league in passing
32nd in the league in passing TDs
13th in the league in rushing
31st in the league in rushing TDs

2011 Panthers (Cam as QB):
7th in the league in total offense
13th in the league in passing
13th in the league in passing TDs
3rd in the league in rushing
1st in the league in rushing TDs

Thats the Cam Newton factor AS A ROOKIE my bro now try to dismiss that season again

Looks like their is a lot of excitement for my 2nd annual list to drop. It’s already shaping up to be in the running for the hottest More Sports Board thread in August. Until that time comes, I’ll be diligently and humbly working in the film room to provide the list that every NFL fan on this board has come to thirst for. I even took a vacation from my day job this year for the week the list drops because I need to live up to the high quality standards that you’ve probably become accustomed to anticipate from my takes. See you guys in 10 days.
