Why no WW1 love from hollywood?

I'm currently watching the docu-series "the first world war" on Amazon. I've never really paid much attention to WW1, probably because I've been bombarded with WW2 stuff my whole life. Why do you think Hollywood doesn't pay much attention to WW1? The stuff that went on during this war was absolutely nuts.

WWI was not a sexy War by any stretch of the imagination. It was trench warfare with very long wait periods for battle, barely dogfighting and the US was not nearly invested, comparably (we weren't attacked) as WWII. Hollywood was right not to make a huge deal about it such as WWII that changed ALL life in the US. Was this serious or were you just pointing out you liked some documentary you saw?

Probably because most of us dont know any wwi vets, while everybody (almost) knows somebody that fought in wwii.

Crazy stuff man. You've got people fighting on horses with lances while airplanes are dropping bombs from the sky. No regard for civilians. It's like a true mashup of two different centuries.

WWI was not nearly as much of a "good vs. evil" type of war. It was an accidental war due to poor planning and communication amongst the world's powers. It was a disaster that could have been avoided. There's little glamour to be found in those tales. Just tales of brutal battles with little reason behind them.

It'd be hard to have a protagonist that stayed alive long enough to see two battles through, much less the whole war.

I disagree with some of this. The US became heavily invested in WW1 and it certainly touched all of American life. PBS made a great documentary on it recently LINK that's worth a watch.

And this is something that Hollywood could use to push a message. Nothing says "make peace, not war" more than hundreds of thousands of soldiers getting slaughtered just to capture a few miles of territory for very little strategic gain. World War I is a perfect metaphor for the futility of war. Honestly, filmmakers looking for an anti-war message can easily look to that conflict for hundreds of script ideas.

I would like to see more high budget movies about World War I. Maybe a Band of Brothers type of thing with some American, British, or Australian unit. Next year will be the centennial of the armistice so they'll likely be more documentaries on television.
A good series, if you can find it, is ANZACS which was made in the 1980's and stars Paul Hogan.

Idk about all that, Germany did a lot of fricked up stuff in that war. Proliferation of chemical warfare, running through neutral countries, etc.
That's not to say that I'm equating Germany of WWI to Germany of WWII.
Also, there were incredible acts of heroics in WWI that would most definitely transfer to movies.
