A legal watchdog group is calling on the Trump administration to withdraw its nominee for a vacancy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

The Alliance for Justice contends that Amy Coney Barrett, a professor at Notre Dame Law School, is unsuitable for the bench due to her belief that the Bible can precede U.S. law.

Barrett has never held a judicial position and has very little litigation experience.

“Amy Coney Barrett is a judicial nominee the likes of which we have rarely seen: a person who believes and has stated that judges can and should put their personal beliefs ahead of the law and Constitution when carrying out their duties, AFJ president Nan Aron said in a prepared statement.

There are judges on the federal bench put there by Obama that believe foreign law can trump the Constitution. I don't remember these people screaming then.

Well just yesterday a CNN reporter was trying to assert that a fricking poem bolted onto the Statue of Liberty should somehow influence immigration policy.

Not knowing anything about this nominee, but I'm willing to bet that this group is misconstruing her words.

If this is true, then I agree she shouldn't be on the bench.

But, I'd like to see what she actually said rather than characterizations of what she said.

geesh, the fake news just can't stop lately....

"bible precedes constitution" vs "bible can precede constitution"

There is a huge difference there.

If Alabamians really do vote Moore into the Senate, then that'll be justification of nearly every stereotype the state has acquired.

Turns out that her position is, for her personally, her faith trumps law on the Death Penalty...........BUT.......she says the solution to that problem is to recuse herself in cases where she knows the case will come down to a competition between her faith and law.

In other words. EXACTLY what you'd fricking hope a decent human being who is made judge would do.

God, shite like this is why I go back to fricking hating liberals.

Any good Christian would agree with her. Our government gets its power from God, not from the Constitution. The Constitution is a check on the government's power that has been granted to it by something higher than people or paper.

Yes. One is saying it is an absolute and one is saying it is possible for a given situation.
