I did the opposite of accuse. I said he's doing nothing illegal or improper.
We've been round and round about this guy, especially after Hootie committed.
The guy is a first rate prick, but nothing illegal/improper about that.
His influence is limited to "helping out" Bama. But in local relations with local coaches he can be of assistance. If Saban were to speak at a luncheon in Monroe he probably was a financial sponsor or helped organize it. He is a big supporter of local high schools. In that he has a wide connection network, but limited influence. But anything that a Burton Burns or Ed Orgeron can do to assist with that networking helps recruiting.
ETA: I will admit I wondered if Bateman had anything to do with Cam Rob's mother's new job which allowed him to transfer from Ouachita to WM. Never saw anything related to that, but I did wonder. For the record one of the problems LSU was thought to be having at that time was Bakari Guice at WM who seemed to be anti-LSU, not necessarily pro-Bama. He's at UGA with Kirby Smart now.

Fair enough that makes sense.

but maybe Saban is worried about losing his footing in LA with Orgeron taking over.

Just another day in North Louisiana
But, it's true. The State of Alabama might as well annex Northeast Louisiana - mainly Monroe and the surrounding area. That ship sailed many years ago. My friends who live there now tell me that Sixth Street bleeds Crimson now. It's a sad, sad time.

NE La bleeds Purple and Gold still, bottom line LSU hasn't recruited the NE like it should for some time. If they would recruit the NE area half has hard as they do the New Orleans area Bama would be shut out. Bolden was not a priority for LSU and it was very apparent.

Somebody got to drive the 5 stars around so they do not get DWI's! Bolden will be the teams designated driver.

Did they ever attend West Monroe?
That school and town are as LSU as it gets. Every time an LSU recruit comes through, the town beams with pride and tells every friend that will listen about the new home town hero.
Freshest example is Layton Garnett who had offers to nearly anywhere but was a bit limited with injuries in his sophomore and junior seasons.
Chose LSU over multiple sec/power 5 programs, as a PREFFERED frickING WALK-ON NO LESS, just to live the dream.
Where's the appreciation for this kid?
I've said it before I'll say it again, West Monroe is purple and gold through and through.
The athletes just are NOT treated the same as those even around Ferriday to Nola to LC.
They honestly feel like OOS recruits and this really opens their eyes about the "love" they expect from their states flagship school.
Yes, it's 3.5 hours north. No excuse to neglect such a dominant area of Louisiana.

Bolden to Alabama makes me sick. The young man improves their team no matter where he plays. Hell, he is a better QB now as a high school senior than LSU's QB's the past four years. All that being said, I hope he never sees the field and blows out both knees. Understand Slade? You fell for Saban's bullshite, and past up playing for the best baseball program in the nation, and the best football fans.

You will be showered in down votes about the knees.
I hate it but don't wish ill upon this 18 year old kid trying to get an education and possibly make a living. Given circumstances do you not agree he may have put himself on the best platform possible?
The way he was recruited Bama gave him the position he wanted while LSU wanted him to remain an APB.
This being said, if he applies to work for me in 4 years, you can bet your arse I'm not hiring.
frick BAMA

Wishing a kid blows out his knees? You are really a sick person. My God ... I hope you don't talk about hue good. Christian you or how moral you are as your wish does not demonstrate either.

I am over this Bolden soap opera! LSU had better get their recruiting big boy pants on now with the 4 and 5 star players about to come through that area.

Such bs, Bolden, Hootie, Cam Rob, Mathis all had LSU offers. LSU was all over Mathis and Cam. These kids chose Bama. Bama offered Bolden after LSU and O was on him all the time so "LSU didn't show love" is a bunch of crap

Taco Bandito
This was just a jab at LSU on the way out the door. Unnecessary and the reason this taste is sitting so bad in everybody's mouth.
LSU was wanting him to be an APB. He wanted to move out to the slot.
Easy choice when you compare apples to apples and the position choice.
He's also just not an LSU Rb. He's not going to run anybody over. He's getting the ball and shaking somebody instantly. He makes plays, but the LSU backfield wasn't the place for him in his mind
