Was really looking fwd to this one coming from Nexus 6p but I can't imagine not having a headphone jack.

Especially after Google made such a point to mock Apple for removing it, I'm hoping this is just a rumor...

Anyone not have a headphone jack - do you miss it?

I will be heavily disappointed if that's true since I was planning on going from my 6P to it.

What's the big deal

It's gonna have a USB adapter for headphones just like all the other phones without the 3.5mm jack

If there's a way for me to listen to FM still I don't need it, it's the only reason I've ever used wired headphones.

I always use Bluetooth headphones now and anytime I have to use a cord headphone they get in my nerves. I could never go back to using them regularly.

To me a headphone jack is just another hole on my phone to get stuffed full of pocket lent.

As long as the headphones don't cost a crazy amount I'm good with it.

Is the release date still slated for October? Really needing/wanting a new phone now.....

If removing it will make room for wireless charging and stereo speakers, they can go right ahead.

I don't remember the last time I used my headphone jack. If you can have head phones plugged into the usbc I don't see the problem with it. I'll admit I thought it was dumb for Apple to do it but when you can make a single port take its place, I see advancement.

If phones move on from the regular jack there will be plenty of headphones that support it. I buy new $10 earbuds about 2-3 times a year just because they get lost or damaged. Buying the lightning or usb-c version will eventually be the same thing.

The problem will be plugging in to other people's jacks like the machines at the health club. Right now one pair of headphones works for everything, soon that won't be the case.

Deal breaker for me, but I fly alot more than most and am not dealing with dead headphones or the inability to charge my phone while wearing wired ones.

Yet I might add because this seems to be the future.

Wasn't it Samsung that openly mocked? I don't recall google being in on it.

The only time I use a headphone jack is when I'm using my phone for work...and I could easily buy a Bluetooth earpiece. So no.. not a deal breaker. I already have Bluetooth headphones for the gym and flying.

My dealbreakers are the massive problems that are plaguing the Pixel and 6P.

I was going to do a new round with Apple anyway, but the 6P debacle of recent months is troubling.

Bought a pair of Bluetooth headphones for the gym. Deadlifting without a phone in your front pocket is so much easier. Bent over rows without a cord constantly getting tangled makes things safer.

You can get decent pairs online for $30-40.

Deal breaker? Lol. I hate to break it to you, but 3.5mm audio jacks are being phased out of top flagship devices. In order to be on the bleeding edge of technology and have 2:1 screen ratios, slim bezels, stereo sound, waterproofing, large batteries, etc., You cannot take up valuable real estate with:

SD card slots
Wireless charging coils
Headphone jacks
LARGE PHYSICAL HOME BUTTONS (apple)
(Or any other space hogging gimmicky hardware)

The 2nd iteration of the Pixel will be the best phone of this year especially with that abortion of a design for the iPhone 8. My current Pixel XL is the best phone I have ever owned. It is fast, pure Android, good battery, and has been just a great overall device. I have owned every iPhone up to the 5s, and have had Android phones by HTC, LG, Motorola, Huawei, etc (most of those were Nexus devices). Nexus was a solid brand that offered everything Android in it's purest form. The Pixel is following that footprint but with the best of the best hardware you would expect in a flagship device. They were rushed on the first one, and it was still the best Android flagship last year. I can't wait for October.
