My room is way too small for anything bigger than 40" so was looking for a nice 4k monitor to game on instead of an oled tv
cellphone rec for the grandparents

any recs? All she needs is something to make calls and take pictures of the grandbabies. I was hoping to get her something cheap and with a physical home button but looks like everything is atleast $200 and completely touch screen.

So to be honest your specs are bad for 2021. And you need to upgrade your os.
Not going to argue with you there. But for runnijg MCC I was thinking should be serviceable or even good for running decent frame rate 1080p. Hoping Equivalent to playing it on an Xbox one in terms of performance unless the PC port just isn't efficient

How is Halo MCC on PC?
Posted by Finn on 9/20/21 at 10:09 am
Been getting the itch to go back and play the old Halo's recently. Was about to borrow a friend's xbone but noticed they released it on PC as well. Any differences between PC vs Xbox?
My PC is running Windows 7 and have had occasional issues with newer games these days with compatibility which would be my only concern (sometimes trouble downloading appropriate drivers, graphics packages and updates between Nvidia or windows itself). I am fine Hardware wise

Grip failing on deadlifts
Posted by Finn on 7/15/21 at 7:44 pm
I'm OK if I have to do 1 or 2 reps, even with heavier weight. But if I'm doing sets of >6 reps with atleast moderate weight, my grip goes to shite. Even when incorporating almost 5 second pauses in between reps, doesn't help much.
I'm trying to stick with conventional style grip. mixed grip always ends up making me favor whatever side has the under hand. Would prefer to just pull the lighter weight conventionally for now until the grip catches up instead of resorting to straps.
I've started doing holding kettle bell holds/walks, hanging from pullup bar, focusing on maintaining tight grip on pull exercises. For the past month I've been focusing on grip about 3 days/week, seen some improvements but feel like its been minor compared to the amount of grip work I've done.

Frequent hamstring pulls
Posted by Finn on 6/23/21 at 7:29 pm
I cannot consistently workout hamstrings without pulling them. I've had periods for a few months here/there with success but it's only a matter of time. RDLs, stiff leg deadlifts, hamstring curls....even lighter weight, selectively doing one of these, eventually they will bite.
Probably somewhat of a flexibility issue but I cannot consistently stretch out my hamstrings more than to a mild degree without pulling them either. Apparently I have weak, ginger hammies but I'm not giving up on them yet. Anyone here overcome gimpy hamstrings?

Mind giving examples of games you do like? ?
I usually like those types of games. I liked most of the previous AC games. I found Valhalla really empty and slow paced.
Fallen order was also very empty. More puzzles than combat. I found the combat clunky and repetitive.
Also recently placed Arkham asylum and couldn't get into that either.
Most recent game I played that I enjoyed was Spiderman.

Been striking out lately. Recently had to put down fallen order and Valhalla. Just could not get into those games. PS4, pc
Deload vs rest week?

Preferences? I feel like rest weeks are best in the long run but they always seem to set me back from a routine standpoint.
workout splitter strength training: M/Tu/Th/Fri vs M/W/F ?
Posted by Finn on 6/3/21 at 2:18 pm
Background: Started lifting primarily Strength/powerlifting focused this year (squats, bench, deads) . I split my days into upper, lower.
past 2 months have been on a M/Tu/Th/Fri split with satisfactory results. I am planning on changing it up for the next 2 months to M/W/F split. Interested to see if I respond to having an extra rest day. Cramming into 3 days/week will force me to consolidate my workout. planning on the following:
Mon: squats, RDLs, bench, shoulder press, pull-ups, accessories if time
Wed: deadlifts, weighted pull-ups, accessories focused on back/pull/lower
Fri: squats, bench, overall similar to Monday
Anyone found any detrimental or beneficial results condensing their splits?

Prolly will at first, but who cares, the body adapts. But mainly it does cause people push the bodyweight way too hard. Every set should be easy as hell.
So are you doing a dedicated workout session with bodyweight exercises with mild intensity rep ranges or are you doing random sets throughout the day

Has anyone had success implementing the frequency portion of this program? (Bodyweight pushups, pullups). I haven't even attempted it yet because I've had pushups/pullups negatively impacting my core lifts in the past which Ive attributed to lack of rest time
What common road vehicle are you most likely to survive a collision in?

Having a debate with a friend. Im going chevy suburban. My friend thinks the Lincoln Navigator has superior safety features given the higher price. We both assumed the SUVs have superior flip/spinout risk compared to upsized pickups.
Posterior neck discomfort with shoulder exercises
Posted by Finn on 3/28/21 at 2:38 pm
Anybody dealt with this? Not necessarily pain, moreso discomfort which can pretty become bad if I push it.
Get it with moderate weight on shoulder press, lat raises, shrugs primarily. I do not do any presses or pulls behind my head. I even get it sometimes if I have to sit for long periods without any type of back rest, like if sitting on bleachers for a few hours.
Pain/discomfort doesn't really go anywhere, just kind of sticks to that prominent vertebrate at bottom of neck/top of back. C7?

Flooring: tile or carpet for spare bedrooms?
Posted by Finn on 3/27/21 at 9:39 am
I currently have 2 bedrooms with old carpet. My neighbors recently bought a couple of pallets of tile and has a lot left over that he's willing to give me for free. I was thinking about pulling up the carpet in both spare bedrooms and replacing with tile.
We have a dog and it would be much easier to maintain the tile and it would look nicer. That being said My wife is preggo with #1 on the way. we plan on turning those bedrooms into nursery and eventually the kids bedroom. I am slightly concerned about putting tile in the babies room who will probably throw things and be falling a lot around the walking stage? Carpet would probably help out if he trips or prevent some shite he might throw from breaking. I'm sure there are other pros/cons of carpet vs tile I'm not thinking of. Any advice?

To do's on the big island?
Posted by Finn on 3/6/21 at 7:02 am
Planning a trip to Hawaii in may. Going to big island for the first time. Will be there about a week. Seems like it takes a couple of hours to work your way and the island. What is the best way to break up my schedule so I'm not spending half the day driving? is four-wheel drive a necessity?
Buying new iPhone as gift. Verizon. Options?
Posted by Finn on 2/28/21 at 10:10 pm
Purchasing for my wife's birthday next week. She's on Verizon. I'm assuming I'm going to get price gouged going through Verizon. Am I better off buying an unlocked version off eBay?
Looking at either iPhone 10 or 11. Don't want to spend more than $500, ideally a new phone. She's coming from an iPhone 5

How much content does the show leave out from the manga? Is it worth a read or am I good just watching the show?
