Are flip flops considered trashy?

One of my buddies told me the other day that flip flops were trashy, and I just thought it was just a really stupid remark. Considering it's hot as shite in Louisiana, and whenever I don't feel like putting on tennis shoes and want something comfortable I put them on. I like wearing flip flops. I don't give a shite. Thoughts?

I wear them all the time just not with jeans. I'm not a frat boy so I don't wear boat shoes or loafers.

Yep. If you aren't within, say, 200y of the water flip flops are absolutely trashy. Find a picture of Buckley, RFK/JFK, Stevenson in flip flops.
