Why do so many people get, then sell, their season tickets?

Why do so many people do this? Doesn't even look like they are making any money.

If you get rid of the tickets it'll be very hard to get tickets again. Plus they might want to hold onto them only for very promising years.

I have season tickets and went to every game last year, but I could have easily paid for the entire season by just selling the Bama tickets.

I imagine a lot of them are like me. I have 13 really good seats. For the last dozen or so years until recently I sold all but 2 which are for me and my son. I sold some to business associates and kept some for my business. In the last few years I finally got some family members to buy some.

My grandpa has had 10 season tickets for well over 50 years. Part of that was due to being from a large family and wanting to be able to bring his brothers. He also had a business and used his tickets to entertain. He even has a court case on the books when an old business partner tried to get "his share" of the tickets when the business sold.

Now, about half get used by myself and other family. The rest typically are sold to a family friend. Maybe one game a year the whole family gets together for a game.

Some have more tickets than they can use. They still buy them for the TAF points then sell them off.

It's a status thing. Even if you sell them all and only go to the Auburn game, you can still say you have season tickets.

Seems like a lot more people are selling them on the ticket exchange than years past imo. Maybe I'm wrong.

I was considering selling my pair (could use the money elsewhere), but I know I'd regret it afterwards. I enjoy a nice Saturday in BR with the family.

You are investing I can the future and keep them in your name. Some people live out of state or have kids in private school and can afford to go.

I sold my tickets when I lived in Georgia for a few years. I just wanted to break even. That way I still got my TAF points, I was able to get tickets to other Tiger fans who might not get them, and I still had them when I moved back to Louisiana.

The only reason I sell my season tickets is because I live in Montana

Many of us had season tickets when we lived in Baton Rouge, but have since moved to other states. I don't want to give up my season tickets, but I can't make every game.

So it seems you've got a lot of reasons...

I personally have been buying my tickets from the same lady for 5 years with no guarantee she'll sell them to me next year. This year, I finally got some decent tickets of my own. I will try to sell those to break even because I certainly don't need two sets of two in different parts of the stadium, but now that I'm getting credit for my donations I can try every year to get better seats. In theory.
