I'm usually a contrarian, but I agree that liberals form the bulk of the political irrationality right now.
People like Roy Moore aside, the militantly ignorant right just isn't that prominent any longer.
There are a few areas where the right is a little irrational
Guns - Having more guns definitely helps bring about more crime. But so what? Guns are a tool, and people decide how they're used. But Republicans should just acknowledge that and move on, instead of pretending that more guns=safety in a broad sense.
AGW - Most people have no fricking clue what they're talking about on both sides, so I leave room for some GOP irrationality here
Race - While the left is far, far, far more irrational, there is some on our side. It's mostly a kneejerk reaction to what the left is doing, though.
Capitalism - Capitalism probably does lead to some very ill results and societal discord. It just so happens it is a far preferable and more liberty-favoring system than the alternatives.
Healthcare - A society as advanced as ours should be in a position to ensure treatment is universal. And despite what loons on the left will say, it generally is. The problem is that "Healthcare is a human right" is accompanied by the inconvenient truth that a solid slice of America thinks that human right should be paid for by someone else. And the alternative, which would be a government run system, is plagued by the truth that our government is really ineffective at most things.

The reason for this is because "Liberals" who are Leftists would like smash and annihilate the old-fashioned "Our Society". The reason is because "Our Society" rejects the collective tenets of Leftism, rejects the moral perversion of Leftism and rejects the utter hatred that the American Left has for our Savior Jesus Christ.
Americanism embraces values, norms and mores that the American Left hates. The American Left will burn this motherfricker down in their quest to exterminate all of that from the fabric of the New Society that the Left intends for us all to live in.

Really? I read it or hear it every day.

They don't say they are "liberal". They use terms like 'progressive', 'activist', 'community organizer.'
They lie about taxes. They say 'The rich should pay their fair share' and then they raise your taxes. That's when you find out that you meet their definition of 'rich.'

And related to that, they are fine with some people's "fair share" being a credit meaning they actually make money off the IRS each year.

Liberalism in the modern, American sense fails without a boogeyman. They need to constantly manufacture more outrage so they can continue to be the victim.

Given that the majority of true liberals are those who pursue fine arts degrees in college, their definition of rich is basically anyone who makes more than them. Which is pretty much anyone who falls in the middle class and above. We're all evil capitalists because we chose to pursue high value degrees in the job market and then subsequently got those high value jobs and paychecks. They think we're evil for making more money as engineers or businessmen or being in a technical field than they do being a barista.

liberals are America's cancer...

The Major Problems in Our Society are Driven by Liberals

I started a thread a long time ago on this topic.
Look at almost every major "problem" created in our history, and look at what party that problem originated from. Then look at what party is eagerly providing the "solutions" to the problem they created.
You won't have to look for.
Racism - Democrats
Slavery - Democrats
Drug war - Democrats (then made worse by Reagan)
Seriously, that's just three. I could list dozens.

I actually agree with most of that and I would add ridiculous PC overload. I was reading a review of the Game of Thrones episode from last night and (**im trying very hard to avoid spoilers and still make my point**) when a person of color died the review author felt compelled to say something like:
"While we hate to see characters die, especially people of color"
I just rolled my eyes. Another recent example is the cancellation of a speech at Berkeley by Richard Dawkins because he "said hurtful things about Muslims". As I said in a thread on the subject, that is the shite that gives rise to Donald Trump being president.

Yes, and while electing Trump may or may not have been a ridiculous thing to do, it's not really indicative of any problem or irrational mindset, IMO.
But, I can already anticipate some liberal saying "It's indicative of the disrespect our male society has for women and people of color!" which just shows how easy it is to predict the unhinged reactions of the left.

This is where we part ways. What I'm about to say is not an indictment on conservatives or Republicans, but on society as a whole.
The fact that out of 326 million people we elected a guy with the demeanor, temperament, and ego of Donald Trump is one of the most disgusting failures I've ever seen in our society. Further, that out of 326 million people we had a choice between fricking Donald Trump and HRC.....it makes me have really bad thoughts about the future of humanity.
Given this, the election of Donald Trump doesn't just show an irrational frame of mind, but a sickness in the soul of the country. All those great men and women that were passed up for two pieces of dogshit.
ETA: The only rational justification for the election of DJT is burning the system down scorched earth style. A sentiment I can appreciate.

David Brooks wrote the same thought before he went to work for the NYT.

"No it isn't and I refuse to talk about actual issues or trying to find common ground. Instead I will keep making the same threads over and over on a message board where 4/5 of the posters think like I do so I can get some reassurance that I'm not crazy like people in real life think"

Trigger warning: 99% of our problems in society stem wouldn't exist if people followed biblical law to the letter (we'd have a whole lot of new problems through)
75% of our current problems are the result of not following the Constitution to the letter, allowing the federal government to intrude into matters it does not need have a say in.
The other 24% are caused by people simply being lazy at their jobs.
The final 1% is random happenstance f&%kery, and unprecedented natural disasters.

Care to elaborate? Or are you one of those liberals who is just going to scream some "ism" without any real basis for your argument?

And which side of the political spectrum rejects religion?

Which side of the political spectrum believes the constitution is outdated and government intervention is the answer to all problems?

Which side of the political spectrum harbors those individuals who prefer to major is feminist studies rather than a value added curriculum but then turn around and bitch that they're underpaid for their job at Starbucks?

Both, when it suits them.

Both, for different reasons and applications.

The issue isn't the feminist studies majors, it's the public sector unions, corporate farmers, and crony capitalists being bailed out with public money and subsidies. That's both sides. This isn't a red/blue discussion, this is a government/the people discussion.
