wow! when MC says that the Oline is a strength of his offense. Wow! I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. i'm sure it's based on the strength of the middle, the guards and the center, with a senior journeyman at left tackle and an good athlete out at right guard.
Etling has to make plays for us this year. I am hoping that we will all be very appreciative that K.J. came back for his senior year. he could make a big difference for us this season. it could be special.
i'm optimistic, and I plan on enjoying each and every game.

Canada praises the oline and talked about the qb getting the ball out quickly. He's gonna be able to design plays to help etling avoid the sack. Finally we will see the short passing game utilized !

KJ wad very solid at LT through the latter part of last season. I think what sometimes happens on tRant is once someone is labeled bad, no room for improvement is allowed.
Brumfield wad impressive every time he saw the field last season. Looking forward to seeing him play.
Hoping Clapp transitions to C goes smooth. Weathersby is my biggest concern.

I have no article or anything to back up this claim but I'm pretty sure Jimbo has been quoted saying that one of the reasons he left was because CLM would interfere with his play calling. Said he would hear the play over the headset and then tell him to call something else.
At OSU, Mike Gundy said that CLM would throw out all the creative plays that his staff would come up with any time they were brought up in game plan meetings.
I do recall seeing a couple quotes where Miles admitted to changing a critical play, or instructing QB to audible into if D had unique reaction to formation. But these were instances and not constant meddling.

Pitt had 3 lineman drafted from their awful line and finished in the top 20 in rushing offense

People just roll with whatever these days

If you silly people haven't missed coach Miles you will ,it starts at and having a plan executed over a number of years ,you people don't know a darn thing about our new coaches ,except you are supporting them . That's a great thing but the first two games we lose in a row ,you will be dragging their name and LSU s recruiting in the mud , hollering for the next genius coaches !

We heard this every year from Miles. I'm just ready to see another dominant line that can move Alabama.
Most teams won't move Alabama's front. You have to mix up the plays. Keep them on their heels, guessing, and having to cover sideline to sideline.
Our problem in the past was trying to constantly test the interior (tackle to tackle).
That ain't gonna work my friend against 300 lb., 5 star linemen, and 250 lb., 5 star linebackers.
You gotta run around those guys from time to time. Make em chase you. Run mis-direction, and connect on short passes to the RB's and TE's.
You ain't beating Bama very often by trying to play smash mouth football.

Will reserve judgement until after Fall practice to see if any of the TF's can crack the starting 5. The OL has been disappointing for the last 5 years or so. (2012-2016) When the season gets into the SEC meat, they have been getting dominated and have too many breakdowns at crunch time.
Why is that going to suddenly change in 2017? (With Pocic gone to boot)

Malone was pretty solid, especially as a first year starter, not only that but it being on the blind side.

He might even have the most talent out of the starters. Injuries set him back, but he should be damn good when healthy.

This is a fact. You can have a great OL, but Bama will still have the most dominant front 7. You have to beat them with scheme. The former coach never accepted this. Last season, with O and Ensminger we still weren't ready to out scheme Bama. This season with Canada we are.

CLM was an Olineman and definitely had a huge say in who starts, who plays where, and what technique is taught.
It would be naive to think otherwise.
Yeah I remember he took over during the 2012 season and they improved as a unit after decimating injuries and a player quitting the team.
But you jerk offs say, let the coaches coach. Well who the frick was coaching?
Don't come spue that bullshite when the current head coach has already stated it will be hard for him to give up the defensive side of the ball. But yeah, let the coaches coach.
And you don't want the head coach to meddle? Well that's just great we hired a guy none of you have any confidence in to coach.

Miles had his prints on the gameplans as any coach would, but he didn't constantly call or change plays as some suggest.
Nearly ever time the camera panned to him while we were on offense he was talking nonstop into the headset. Contrast that with O where his mic is always on his head.
You think the only way a coach can change or alternate play calls is when he's holding a playsheet?

As long as line stays healthy I think it can be real good. Tackles will be solid but think the interior has potential to be dominant.
Everyone likes to make predictions on who steps up etc, my pick for that is Brumfield. Think he makes an all conference team at end of the season.
As long as we don't play guards at tackle OL will be a strong part of this team.

A decade ago Mike Gundy and Josh Henson would sit in the Oklahoma State offensive meeting room and draw up plays they knew their boss would never run. That boss was Cowboys head coach Les Miles.

Henson and Gundy’s ideas “would go on deaf ears with Les,” Gundy said here this week, “because it didn’t involve two tight ends and a fullback.”

Orgeron is letting the coaches actually coach.
Does this mean you believe Miles sought to prevent his coaches from coaching?
If Miles was a dominant leader, there are ways for assistant coaches to "lead up". Was Miles just too strong?
