I've enjoyed the show and I'll enjoy the ending no matter what, unless it's completely retarded. Some people, however, are probably going to bitch about it no matter what. Too many will be disappointed that their personal theories didn't pan out. Others will not like their favorite characters not being the "winner" in the end.

You can't please everybody.

Im not expecting a happy ending but at least a satisfying one. It would be such a disappointment for for phenomenal show to pull a "Dexter" for its final episode.

I actually think The Sopranos had a good ending especially if you believe the theory that Tony was whacked at the end.

Let me go Bill Clinton on you for a minute - it depends on what your definition of satisfying means.

I'm sure it will be a epic ending with at least one big twist that will fit into the story and will not be pure fan service. That said, so many people are so invested in the series that the ending will not be able to satisfy many no matter how it ends. The book crowd will still hate on Dan and Dave for messing it up no matter the outcome. The conspiracy searchers will say the show missed out on a much better ending that they had discovered from foreshadowing from one sentence in the forth season or something. The crowd that only likes happy endings will be disappointed the show doesn't end with everyone living happily ever after.

If the show ends with the Sand Snakes on the throne or Bran waking up to find out this was all a story Nan was telling him, then HBO headquarters may be burned to the ground. I think it will be a great ending. The showrunners have to know how important sticking the landing is on the show given it's status as a pop cultural phenom, so I'm sure HBO has told them do whatever is needed to make sure it's done as well as possible.

I mean, Varys is a big, big game changer in the books that he hasn't been on the show, to where aside from a final battle with the Others and Jon sitting on the Iron Throne, I expect the end to be very different.

They will certainly be some differences. Maybe some significant. However, I think the following will be be same as the books:

1. The outcome of the war with the White Walkers
2. The political makeup of Westeros, including the kingdoms and rulers
3. The fates of the remaining Starks, Lannisters, and Targaryens

I'd say that's pretty similar, even if there are some notable changes.

I think it's a good ending provided he was whacked.

The Night King should sit on the Iron Throne. It's the only thing that seems logical with how concerned everybody is about petty stuff.

With as large as fan base this show has, a significant portion of people are going to be pissed no matter how it ends.

Dany and Jon will team up to beat the WWs and probably marry.

uh...they're brother and sister (ETA aunt/nephew)

Dany walks away from the throne leaving it to the rightful heir (Jon). She'll realize she never truly wanted it. She's a conqueror at heart, not a ruler (recall how she walked right past the throne into the strategy room in the latest episode)

Jon marries Sansa and Tyrian stays hand

Jamie is killed by Arya in a tragic end as she still holds him responsible for arresting Ned stark and doesn't know about his change. Arya leaves to roam the world pursuing justice, never happy.

The Hound is killed by the Mountain. The Mountain is killed by Brienne

Cercy (sp?) is killed by Tyrian.

Don't care about anyone else

GRRM has said that the ending will be bittersweet. That makes me assume we'll definitely see at least one fan favorite die but some will make it to the end. I don't see the White Walkers winning out but the toll will be devastating.

I could see Jon, Tyrion, or Jaime sacrificing themselves in some manner to save the realm.

The one thing I really want to see happen is Jaime kill Ceresi. The show hasn't reinforced it as much up to this point, but his character arcs in the books is top notch and it would be incredibly satisfying to see him get legitimate redemption for all of the Kingslayer bullshite. I wouldn't be all surprised if it goes down like Ceresi killing Brienne and then Jaime killing Ceresi as a result (and getting mortally wounded in the process).

I do think we'll get a satisfying ending even if it's sad. The one thing we've always known and we know D&D have been told, is where everyone ends up. The issue for GRRM has never been the ending but getting there.

Jon is Azor Ahai/The Prince That Was Promised.

He's going to sit the throne after all is said and done.

Dany still has her betrayed by blood, gold, and love in play and is Jon's auntie and the same age. Marriage material for Targaryen.

Arya is the only one Jon gives a damn about and is Paris' favorite character. She's also Jon's cousin and totally ok standards by any House.

Jon still has to reforge Lightbringer which required the sacrifice of Azor Ahai's wife, Nyssa-Nyssa, the first time around.

So both are candidates for getting Longclawed by Jon to remake his old sword with Arya, darling of the writer's wife, the clear favorite as the story is now. The reason he won't end the series, she'll poison his pizza.

Agreed.

I don't think there will be a throne to sit once the White Walkers are done with them. Which falls in line with Dany's vision from the House of the Undying IMO.

May be metaphor. The show dropped a lot of the prophecy stuff and gave us retard Dorne and Qarth.

We know the Others will reach the Trident at least.

Edit: Natural greensight is near flawless like what Bran and Jojen possess. But other prophecy has been shown to be misinterpreted by the characters fairly easily so the future is mutable if you have no natural talent.
