Lately we've been dodging bullets(literally), since the crime is outrageous! Everyday someones getting shot. Starting to look like chicago up here so they mayor wants to hire a consulting firm to figure out why crimes so bad lol. It's pretty obvious the problem
I started doing deliveries for dominos for some extra change a week ago and had to go on a run to st Francis downtown. Dude had some kind of wound on his neck I'm assuming was from a shooting/stabbing. I'm legit scared any time I have to go south for a run. The place is rough as shite

I like restoration park off 20 in west Monroe a lot as well.

This place is a mile from my house and I keep saying I'm going to go check it out then I forget to. Is it just a walking trail or is there more to it?

Walking trail with a few ponds that I think have fish. I went out there a couple months back with my girlfriend and enjoyed it a lot

Golf:

Black Bear - played 2 weeks ago - course is fine, sans fairway bunkers
Frenchman's - course is as good as it gets right now - using temp clubhouse for now
Calvert - good shape - nice course

Food:

No real sports bars - maybe try Fieldhouse
Genussa's for Italian - has bar area as well
Does - nice bar and good steaks
Trios - good bar - ok food - nice scenery
Enoch's - decent food and drink
Pickle Barrel - ok beer selection
Flying Tiger - have not been yet
SQs - overrated but nice view
Trapp's - good view on balcony
Cotton - unless you have a high end date - meh

It is humid and muggy AF outside right now

Black Bayou
Vicksburg Battlefield
Poverty Point
Chennault Air Museum

Lived there for years and tried to offer my opinion on a thread like this, which incited the wrath of the locals

Well, it seems like the locals should offer up some good advice about the place they love so dearly.

For golf, if you are a baller, see if you can get on at Squire Creek in Choudrant. (About 20 miles out) one of the best courses in LA. (It's private, but incredibly nice) Also, Landry's Vineyard has outdoor concerts in the summer. Pretty nice I'm told. (Wine sampling and family atmosphere). For food, Roma is great and SQ's is good as well. Portico is also an option.

Ok OP, we've waited long enough.

What did you get into yesterday/last night?

That's awesome. Right before it left the real airport, I was in town, went in and asked "where's the popcorn?" She said, "Damn... you're from the old school! We haven't popcorn in a few years." Those LIIT are legendary.

How does a "Monroe - what's there to do?" thread even reach 2 pages?

Don't get caught having to drive drunk.

This is the best advice in the thread. Monroe PD is out looking for this shite like I've never seen anywhere else.

It really ruins Monroe potential as a college town that there is no uber/lyft there. It really should be a decent place to go to school but all the bars are screwed since you basically are forced to have a DD and everyone knows how that goes.

Yeah because there's a meth epidemic in Monroe right?

Why yes, Mr. Helper, there is.

Sunday morning's big meth bust by West Monroe police highlighted a meth-making trend in our area.

Meth has been a major problem there and the surrounding parishes for at least the past 15-20 years.

It ruins it's potential as a town at all. I had a cop yell at me, my gf, and basically say I was going to jail for being such a reckless POS...I had about 2 drinks and was passing the sobriety test just fine....was a great way to end a night out

Off topic, but it would be nice if they had a service like other schools have where students volunteer to drive people. I know TCU has Froggie 5-0 and A&M has Carpool. If you are not capable of driving, you call a number and they come pick you up to take you home.

Not sure what other colleges have services like this.

for sure, one of the reasons I hated living there.

I didn't live out of the drunken walking distance from Enoch's(probably over a mile), but Monroe isn't a town you want to walk around at midnight in.

Eh I'm not sure if you'd get much participation in that from a driver standpoint. It's seems like here you're eithere drunk or want nothing to do with it that night.
