Poli board Poll: Are you better off than your dad was?

Growing up in the 50s every parent wanted their children to be 'better off' than they were. That's why they made financial sacrifices for their kids.
And, every generation seemed to be better off. I'm not sure if that's true today.
So... At your current age how do you stack up financially compared to your dad when he was the same age?
a. not as well off
b. about the same
c. better off

d. Lucky enough to jump the ladder more than a few rungs.
Put it this way, I have already taken my parents on more vacations around the world then they took me when I was a child.
Early 40s. Started lower middle class, now we are living like Weezy Jefferson baby!

About the same. My dad had his own construction company when I was a kid and he made a lot of money but didn't manage it correctly and ultimately lost his business. He has always made good money though 80k-100k a year sometimes more sometimes less. I make about 80-100k a year so is say we are the same.

Hard to gauge. I currently hold significant student loan debt from law school, so if you're going by net worth, I'm substantially worse off. However, my future earning potential is higher and my current quality of life is better.

Better off, especially if you factor in that he had received quite a bit of inheritance by this time and I haven't received much except college money and some minor help with my first 2 condos.
With that said, I feel like my financial situation is far more tenuous than his was and I am working on a legit rainy day fund now to make up for that.
