It's on the middle right part of my neck. If I move my neck a certain way or look down at a certain angle I literally whimper in pain. Looking for any help (medicine, home remedy, exercises)
TIA

Don't move your neck that way.

Ibuprofen. Don't become another statistic on the opiate crisis.

Go see a good chiropractor that a friend swears by. Be sure to ask him for exercises to do at home.
Start doing yoga to help work it out and to prevent future issues and be more durable.

Buy a better bed. That fixed mine. I bought a Temperpedic bed with there special pillow. Maybe just buy the pillow if you want to go cheap.

Amputate. Get on it quick, you don't want it to spread.

Physical therapist.
If you're too lazy, Google chin tucks and chin tucks with cervical extension and perform religiously 5-6 times per day. Will be better in a few days.
Don't go to chiropractor. They will do unnecessary x rays and tell you you're out of alignment and need to see them 3x/week forever for a problem that will likely get better on its own in 2 wks.

Muscle relaxers (Rx), ibuprofen, and ice.

Flexeril... those are amazing to help relax the muscles

more than likely your muscle in your shoulder/upper back is in a knot. When this happens to me I just feel around my shoulders until I find the knot then massage it out. The knot is usually within 6-8 inches from where the pain is

Went to Dutch Physical Therapy a couple of years ago for neck issues and it helped alot
Basically go see any physical therapist that specializes in neck and back. once you learn the stretching and strengthening routines you can do them at home when it flares up.
EDIT:
The stretch that works best for me is to stand perpendicular to a wall and the hand closest to the wall extend up the wall as high as you can get it
next place your chin on your upper chest, then rotate you neck with you chin still tight to your upper chest and look away from wall

Cervical pillow that supports your necl when sleeping. This one is the best one that I have found after several years and using multiple different ones.
Chiropractor. The first time I had that problem was when I was in my early 30s. I left my very first visit to the chiropractor knowing that what he had done had fixed whatever the underlying problem was. My neck was still sore, but it got better within a couple of days. Before that, I had been in pain for a week with no relief.
Disc Golf. This sport was made for you. The motion involved in throwing the disc (torso and head twisting) is perfect therapy for you once the pain is resolved. Do not try it while you neck is still hurting. Going to a batting cage regularly will accomplish the same thing as will swimming laps.
Avoid sitting in a chin-down position. If that isn't what is causing the problem, it may be contributing. Tablet in lap, computer screen too low on desc, etc. And get that pillow.

Upper trap stretch: take your right hand put it in the left back pocket. Then take your left hand place it on top of your head and gently pull to your left shoulder. Hold for 10 sec do 5 on each side.
