Are cyclists not safe anymore in this city? This is on the verge of lawlessness.

They use the parking lot at that corner for parking when Exxon has big turnarounds. There's usually one security guard out there all night. frick being that guy out there with nothing but a flashlight and keys.

Usually cycling in that area, after midnight, isn't a recreational activity.

it wasn't a "Lance Armstrong" wannabe
this was an random attack on a guy that was using his bike for actual transportation because it is probably all he had

i'm so glad i live in nashville where dedicated cycling lanes are EVERYWHERE and car and bicycle traffic co-exists without this type of problem.
lay the blame on LA lawmakers who for years have ignored making any infrastructure changes to better support people who don't want to sit on their fat fricking asses behind the wheel of a car.
yeah, lets make it dangerous for people who want to be healthier and create a dynamic where motorists are constantly pissed off at cyclists because they have no way to get around town without blocking those narrow-arse roads.
eta when i was at lsu river road was a quiet, fun place to ride a bike..would routinely ride to the plaquemine ferry and pay the 25 cents to take it across the river to eat at mcdonalds.
