Germany lashes out at US over sanctions against Russia affecting gas pipeline to Europe

"It is strange that in the sanctioning of Russia's behavior, with regards to the US elections for instance, that the European economy should become a target of American sanctions. That must not happen," said Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman Steffen Seibert.
He added that Merkel shared the concerns raised by Germany's foreign minister Sigmar Gabriel and Austrian chancellor Christian Kern who charged in a joint statement Thursday that the measure brings a "completely new and entirely negative quality to European-US relations".
In a hard-hitting statement, the German and Austrian said they "cannot accept the threat of extra-territorial sanctions against European companies that participate in the expansion of European energy supplies", adding that this would "violate international law".
They accused Washington of using the sanctions to squeeze Russian gas supplies out of Europe in favour of US energy exports.
"The aim is to secure jobs in gas and oil industries in the US," said Gabriel and Kern.
"Political sanctions should not be mixed up with economic interests," they warned, stressing that "Europe's energy supply is Europe's business and not that of the United States".
"We decide who delivers energy to us and how, according to rules of openness and economic competitiveness," said Gabriel and Kern.

Don't worry Merkel, those millions of refugees will keep Germany strong and wealthy.

Good.
Frick the Germans.
Do what is good for the U.S.
Oh, and while we're at it we should pull all of our troops out of Germany.

Is this in response to the amendment recently passed by the senate? Has anyone actually read the amendment. It's a big nothingburger. If the president wants to lift sanctions that the president says he doesn't want to lift he has to notify congress. That's it. Anyone trying to make passage of the amendment mean anything clearly hasn't read it.

That's exactly what a US president should do. Germany needs to learn to handle their own problems before they other countries what they need to do.

Wait, so Merkel is cool with Trump's supposed "quid pro quo" with Putin to lift sanctions? They are cool with Trump being an "agent of Putin?"
I'm confused.

Let's call it a tax for all of those years you Nazis didn't pay into NATO.

So, Merkel prefers to depend on Putin for gas over the US? That thinking is on a par with her Open Border policy to Islamists. Utterly insane.
Can't blame this one on Trump. Let her get John McCain over there to give a speech; he'll explain it to em'.

Germany's negative quality is aka the U.S. not subsidizing their activities

She has absolutely no power here. It's either the US or the Russians. Choose wisely Merkel.

Someone else me out here, the sanctions being referred to are the same as the ones placed over the Ukraine situation in 2014?

So they're ok with Obama's sanctions on Russia, but not Trumps? Got it.
So they've been fearful of their reliance on Russian energy, for what a century plus, but now that we (their ally, they ally that saved their arse from the Russians after WWII all the way through the fall of the Berlin wall, and to an extent today)can begin supplying them with cheap energy they don't want it and would rather have the Russian energy? Got it.
Here's a big frick you Merkel from the baws in the USA.

Their limited sovereignty is very much deserved. History has shown plenty of times that Germanic people do not need to rule any part of the world, they need to be divided and destroyed.
Biggest mistake we made was tearing down the Berlin wall and breathing economic life into their country. We allowed them to be problems, later on down the road..oops.
