T. PAUL — The Minnesota police officer who fatally shot Philando Castile during a traffic stop last summer was acquitted Friday of all charges, a decision likely to be perceived by activists as more evidence that officers can kill black people with impunity.
Had he been convicted, the officer, Jeronimo Yanez of the St. Anthony Police Department, would have faced up to 20 years in prison for second-degree manslaughter and endangering safety by discharging a firearm.

Second time today I've started a thread at the exact same time as someone else.

Yeah I'm actually against the cop on this one. It's pretty hard to justify, I don't know about homicide but there should definitely be some repercussions.

Yeah, just because he's Mexican. You'd be all for him if he was white. More shitlording.

That's a fair statement...it's a horrible situation...
I think there was enough going on that it confused the cop, he walked up there with a bias thinking he had to catch someone...Philando didn't do exactly what he said and the cop fricked up...
Terrible situation

Both fricked up. Easy to say when you are not in their shoes though.

He said he had a CWP, then got lit up when he went for his license and permit. Did he have his ID and 9 in the same pocket?

Damn what a shitty shoot. fricking idiot cop.
Murder? Seems like he just somehow freaked out, he sounded pretty distraught about it. But the decedent did everything proper like alerting the cop that he had a gun, no reason for the shooting.
Cop should never carry a badge and a gun again.

Apparently the gun was in his right front and wallet was in the back right. When the officer saw the butt of the gun sticking out he told him to stop reaching, guy said im not, stop reaching, im not, stop reaching, he's not. Cop should have asked him to put his hands up, then step out so he could disarm him. Mr Castile should have put his hands on the steering wheel (like you're instructed to in CWP classes) and offered to let the officer disarm him, and stopped reaching in the direction even if instructed to produce his ID as the officer was evidently and justifiably on edge at that point.
