Hitler would have loved you. You would have earned a lot of respect in Nazi society, no doubt.

You don't have to respect a law to follow it.

And people with power generally like to hold onto power. When it comes to changing unjust laws, especially ones in place for the people who make and enforce the laws, history tells us you usually have to "disrespect" the law.

The jury was most likely overwhelmingly white.

It was because Minnesota is 90+ % white, but they had two black people too and they were for acquittal of the officer from the beginning according to the reports.

FTR, I believe in giving the police the benefit of the doubt in full comprehension and appreciation of the dangers they face daily and how those dangers can manifest in death in one half of a second.

But this was a bad act by the cop. I don't think for one second he had murderous intent, I think he just panicked. I don't think he should go to prison for this but I don't think he should ever police again.

And although I can't speak to the legal prowess of him just saying he panicked and fricked up, that seems like it would have been the right thing to do.

He wad reaching for the wallet

How do you know this? Is it possible to say I'm reaching for my wallet and then quickly pull the gun and shoot the officer.

Is that a reasonable possibility?

quote:

How do you know where the gun was. As somebody said to me earlier in the thread, "we're" you there first-hand to see? Because the cop thought he saw one after already being paranoid doesn't make it so.

And how do you know where it was....were you there?

And the cops perception is considered even if the perception is wrong.

quote:

And the cop walked up to the car gun already drawn, ready to shoot. Did he magically see this gun that was allegedly in the waistband from the seat of his patrol car?

Because he was a burglary suspect and it was a felony stop.....officer should have instructed him to get out and walk back to him (In my opinion)

Fact is if he truly believed the guy was reaching for the gun it is justifiable per the law in criminal court.

Now civilly he will have more trouble.

Protesters are idiots. The ones who block roads, especially interstates or highways, deserve to get run over.

And any who turn to violence and rioting are ironically putting themselves at risk of being justifiably shot and killed in the name of a man of who unjustifably shot and killed.

So wait, this woman just sat next to the dude as he got popped 7 frickin times and then calmly starts making a video. She was either high as hell or it wasn't her first experience with a shootout.

How can you pass judgement when you only know a small portion of the facts and information on the case?

Did you sit through and watch the trial?

I think the cop was an idiot and handled it all wrong. Still, if I were in that situation my hands would have been in the air and I would be as still as corpse. The fact is he thought f this police officer, I have a CC and dindunuffin so I can do what I want. Philando is a fricking moron like his name suggest and he died because he was dealing with a person who was as equally big of a dumbass. Case closed.
