Congressman Erik Paulsen told me this afternoon he visited Congressman Scalise in hospital. Says he had 2nd surgery and was in ICU.

Paulsen says Scalise was unconscious and not able to talk to him. Tells me Scalise will likely need another surgery.

This should be a lesson for the left. When you push a constant PC globalist culture and make middle America the bad guy, you get Trump. Let's not forget that the reason Trump won was because the midwest states turned on the Democrats for the first time in 30 years (the same people that put Obama in office twice).

Who said it defines an entire group? It illustrates a propensity for normalization of hateful and sensationally inflammatory rhetoric on the extreme left though. To suggest it is so fringe and minimal that it should be ignored is nonsense.

With all the completely bullshite narratives pushed by the left including ACTUAL media outlets about Trump and his followers being dangerous, I don't want to hear any bullshite from the left about how absurd it is to suggest the rhetoric and extremists on the left aren't dangerous, particularly after multiple riots, assaults, and now political shootings.

i agree with this whole heartedly. it's ridiculous that Trump supporters are portrayed as PARTICULARLY dangerous. Extremists of all political leanings are dangerous. The cop killers in Dallas and Baton Rouge weren't Republicans either i'd guess.

i don't think this is necessarily true. i think had the democratic party not been functionally retarded and nominated anyone other than Hillary Clinton that Trump would've gotten crushed.

Doubtful.

Hillary said she was going to be Obama's 3rd term.

You are absolutely, 100% correct. And that same slim group of voters in those key states, who switched and voted for Trump last year, can just as easily switch back. Yes? I think the GOP is going to learn a lesson in the coming midterms and in 2020. Trump has no "mandate," he was elected due to two reasons: one, the reason you cite (the switch of blue-collar Dem voters in WI, MI, PA, OH), and b/c some voters could not pull the lever for Hillary and either did not vote or voted 3rd party.

And upgrayedd, isn't it past time we get a new generation of political leaders? How about leaders, in both parties, who served in the military in Iraq .... Cotton, Ernst, and others, on the right, and Duckworth, Moulton, and others, on the left? Can we put Bernie, Hillary, Mitch McConnell, Trump, Biden, out to pasture?

I agree we need new politicians but that won't happen without a viable third party, which we know the 2 party system will defeat at all costs.

+1

Get well soon to our LSU classmate Scalise, who i do not remember being a baller(CAD?). It seems odd that a guy with a high capacity rifle and handgun could do so little damage. Maybe he was under return fire from the capital policemen early on?

I have seen some video today of Scalise speaking in the past. It seems as if he is kind of a wide body, not particularly fat, but muscular, for a man of 51. If this is true, it bodes well for his recovery.

Being physically strong always seems to help when healing.

Does anybody know if he played any ball at Rummel, or if he has kept physically active?

This is David Bailey, the Capitol Police officer who this morning took a bullet and continued running to help Rep. Scalise. A true hero.

Mood in White House turns more grim as word circulates that Congressman Steve Scalise injuries are critical, his health precarious.

They were on scene already as escorts. Unfortunate that they weren't alert to the presence of the shooter before he started shooting but that can be a hard thing to do and they certainly got to him quickly after that.
