Its not truth.

Sometimes cuts have to be made to balance the budget. No matter what you cut someone isn't going to like it.

Replace the mental health program with methadone and fidget spinners

Good. No need to waste hundreds of millions of dollars on the least valuable members of society.

Clearly the services you receive will be directly affected by the cuts.

Hopefully, this is just a power play by DHH

Speaking from experience, this is how the budgeting game is played in government. Agencies submits their budget. Legislature wants to cut it. Agencies claim essential services will be cut. It's how they negotiate.

In the end, we're still left with a bloated budget, inefficient government, and unhappy taxpayers.

What's the reason why health and education are the only things we can cut in the budget?

Dedicated funds

All of which are dedicated because the public voted for them to be that way

fricking insane. Just pisses me off beyond belief, you have all these able bodied pieces of shite sitting on EBT cards and sucking up resources but they decide to go after the people who actually need it.

In short, do you like crazy homeless, because that's how you get crazy homeless.

They have a 14 billion dollar budget, with the loss of federal matching funds this will cut them by less than 7%.

Another brilliant move by the leaders of the banana republic known as the state of Louisiana.

This is scary. Mental illness and suicide is a real issue. LA's rate of death by suicide per 100,000 is on average 2 deaths higher than the nation average.

Guarantee you that poster considers himself a model Christian

model Christians would take better care of the mentally ill at a lesser cost to society, than the state government. Because people don't wish to give their money to crooks, don't make them bad Christians.

Yeah great plan.....cut off treatment to the type of people that could potentially hurt the general public if their mental illness isn't treated.

Then they end up in Jail. It's much cheaper to Tx this population with proper outpatient mental healthcare than pay for their incarceration. One way or the other the state will pay. I'd rather prevent this population from being in the Louisiana corporate jail system.

If this was truly the cheaper alternative, the Dept of Corrections should have no objection to an interagency transfer to LDH for the $235 million. ...think of it as an investment.

it's because mental health is woefully underfunded in this state already.
