Is WikiTiger on a Yacht out in the Pacific?
Edit: I know this most likely belongs on the Money Board, but I know a lot of people on OT interested in the Bitcoin concept.

On May 22, 2010, Hanyecz asked a fellow enthusiast on a bitcoin forum to accept 10,000 bitcoin for two Papa John's Pizzas. At the time, Hanyecz believed that the coins he had "mined" on his computer were worth around 0.003 cents each. Bitcoin mining involves solving a complex mathematical solution with the miner being rewarded in bitcoin. This is how Hanyecz got his initial coins. The cryptocurrency has many doubters as it continues to be associated with criminal activity, but it has still seen a stunning rally. Here are two facts, on Bitcoin Pizza Day, however, that highlight this: While being worth $30 at the time, Hanyecz pizzas would now cost $21.8 million at current bitcoin prices If you bought $100 of bitcoin at the 0.003 cent price on May 22, 2010, you'd now be sitting on around $72.9 million

Is there a way to cash in bitcoins for actual dollars?
Posted on 5/22/17 at 11:37 am to sportsaddit68
If I would have invested $20 for the hell of it if someone would have told me 7 years ago.

Where are all of these bitcoin kajillionaires?

Ok...I've never understood the bitcoin thing. What is it, how do I get some, and why would I want it?

I'm kind of pissed that none of my gambling sites made me deposit via bitcoin because that would be amazing to just have some random Bitcoin account open that I had forgotten about with like a couple million dollars worth of Bitcoins in them.
I think Bookmaker accepted Bitcoins as long as 4 years ago.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)

Wiki never argued for bitcoin as an investment. He believed in the laws of the universe and wanted to stick it to the man. All the people that are flocking to it now are only looking for a quick buck. A fool and his money...

Haven't there been events between 2010 and now that may have caused you to lose some or a lot of those bitcoins, though?

Love me some blockchain...
What I find more fascinating are the possible uses of the tech outside of cryptocurrency. That's where the next real goldmine will be for the tech.

What do these bitcoins look like? What are they made of and how do they compare in size to a quarter?

quote:Does anybody with a stronger bitcoin background want to chime in on this? I don't know a ton about their beginning, but I have a difficult time believing that a bitcoin was ever worth only 0.003 cents. It sounds like Hanyecz paid a price far too high to satisfy his munchies, not that anyone could have purchased 73 million dollars worth of bitcoin for 100 bucks.

I have a 1947 wheat penny. It is worn down to where it might actually be 1941, but it is hard to tell.

Sounds great, except that it's still not able to be exchanged at that level. Unless you want to do that many transactions for a Ruby Tuesday gift card or something along those lines.
