CEO on local radio station here in Monroe

I can't remember Les ever coming on the local sports radio station here locally, ever. If he did, it wasn't recently (before being fired) and it had no effect in terms of recruiting or in-roads.
Now, listening to the interview I came away convinced we have the right man with the desire to MLSUGA.
He mentioned that Rashard Lawrence from here in Monroe (Neville High) was now the starting Right Defensive End. He proceeded to definitely set the hook in the listeners; that he wishes to make Monroe LSU territory for here on out. Spoke highly of McCarty (Neville) and Arledge at West Monroe. Mentioned the entire north part of the state.
Talked heavily about how TCU and Bama practically have been living up here for the last few years with coaches seemingly at the high schools whenever possible making connections with coaches and the community.
I am hoping that I see these coaches up here as often, if not more, these next few years...
Very good interview.

Smart move by him. There is a ton of talent up in the NE part of the state. Of course LSU will always lose a couple of the prospects here and there but to get a good hold on the area would be huge.

Isn't that a recuiting violation to speak publicly about specific players? Maybe I'm dreaming that.

Naw, McCarty is the head coach at Neville; Alridge is the head coach at West Monroe.
Both have tons of talent each year. West Monroe with a butt-load coming up the next 3 years.

Even though Monroe doesn't feel like Louisiana, we need to lock it up. Too much Bama

He just came across as a man who truly desires to MLSUGA from his tone. He wants to succeed in the worse way. I believe he will. This area is going to become LSU territory again soon.

I am glad to see Coach O putting some effort into NeLa again....when Shows left, Saban started snapping up a lot of the talent from that area and that just pisses me off.

Ah gotcha.

West Monroe had 2 players drafted in the NFL last month and neither went to LSU. That is unacceptable and 100% on Les Miles!

The Aranda-Canada connections should be used at recruiting OL's that can make a difference. OL is the one area that LSU needs to significantly upgrade before winning the SEC. Bama recruits OL's from across the country. LSU should as well.

OMG. First off, that's completely wrong. I cover the entire state daily for work. I can tell you that you're less like Louisiana than Monroe. I'm from South Louisiana and I'm embarrassed by you or anyone who would say anything so idiotic.
Louisiana puchase was the largest land purchase in our nation's history. If anything, Nebraska and Missouri should be a part of Louisiana. The Monroe area is the soul of state. Wonderful people there, great LSU fans; even though they have a beautiful university with a bayou running right thru the center.
Their HS football is top notch. They have a system that starts when kids are young.

All true, reo45. But aren't you suppose to be a West Monroe guy? At least learn the coaches name. Its Arledge

So who did Lawrence overtake? Herron?

Securing north Louisiana is a need and a must - not simply a want. Les lost it in that region. The I-20 corridor is huge.

This isn't the first correction I've heard of.
I always forget. My apologies.

Les got Lawrence and Harris. Granted, Harris ultimately turned out to be his undoing but let's not pretend he completely ignored the area.

"Hey WM, Neville, and all you NLA players please come to LSU even though it doesn't feel like you're from Louisiana." What a jackass!!! I bet Bama doesn't care if Monroe doesn't "feel like Alabama!"

Understood, but among Louisiana residents, we can acknowledge that some places are better (and worse) than others.
Just happens the absolute worst community in this entire state is West Monroe, Louisiana, although there are some nice people there and a good football program.
