Jeff Ireland deserves a raise, and here's why:

I think that we had a better draft this year than we had last year. And last year we ended up Mike Thomas, Sheldon Rankins and Vonn Bell.
Lattimore will be an all pro corner for us. Enough said. Moving on...
We got a starter at RT and the best lineman in the draft at 32. Again, not much more needs to be said there.
Marcus Williams will start for us at FS. Now whether he's going to be good or not, time will on this kid, but he will get every chance to start and is the best deep ball safety we have. So that's 3 starters.
Kamara: Canal Street Chronicles just did an exceptional piece on this kid. Top 5 running back in the nation (Saints got 4 of the top 75 recruits from the 2013 class in the draft) coming out high school. What's lost about him is size-speed combo. He's 210+ and runs 4.40ish (ran a 4.5 at the combine but ask his coaches and they'll admit he's faster). He has the size and talent to be our future starter. If he ends up being a Thomas Jones type, chalk it up as another steal.
Anzalone: I'll post what I shared earlier because I think it says a lot about this pick: He was a 5 star recruit coming out high school and one of the top linebackers in the country, up there with...Reuben Foster. So you know the kid has rare physical gifts. He has the ability to a starting linebacker in this league. It's more a matter of health with him. If his injury days are behind him, we got a steal.
Al-Quadin Muhammad: another big time recruit. Top 5 defensive end in the nation in the 2013 class. So you know he has talent. He fell far in the draft because of the off the field concerns (kicked off UM's team). But this guy is another very raw and gifted athlete. He's got round 2-3 talent but we got him much later. If he puts it all together, we have another guy that can play in this league. He's the biggest question mark of all of these guys, but that's why he got drafted where he did. Even if only ends up as a situational rusher for the Saints, it's still a great pick for a player with his talent level.
I really think that in a few years we'll look back at the 2016 and 2017 drafts as the drafts that righted the ship and got our franchise going in the right direction again. Hats off to you Mr Ireland

Absolutely loved our draft. Not sure I would have done the Kamara trade just because I hate giving up a 2nd rounder but if it means no more Cadet, I'm fine with it. I also would have gone with one of the QBs over Muhammed. Chad Kelly or Brad Kaaya would have been a more rewarding pick in my opinion but another damn fine draft altogether.

This is all very, very optimistic, but I am buying it all. Yes, there are some big "If's," but this class is undeniably extremely talented. The fact that many will be starters/day one contributors makes me even more excited. Time will tell, but for now, good work Jeff

Jeff Ireland deserves a raise
As far as we know, Saints wanted Mahomes, Foster, Cook with their first 3 picks.
No one in Saints FO deserves a raise until 7-9 seasons are uncommon (4 of last 5 seasons have ended 7-9).

He's actually murdered the last two drafts. I'm not sure everybody realizes that Anzalone may start right away. Kid has a lot of upside and his last injury has nothing to do with durability issues. Ireland just nabbed 5 starting quality players in the first 76 picks.

I agree w/ your assessment. I still believe the best players in this draft will be Marcus Williams & Alvin Kamara!
Hear me out, that Safety has the ability to keep everything in front of him, sideline to sideline, turnover creating ball hawk.
Kamara seems to have every tool to excel in this offense, and no one can predict how great that will be!
Future is bright

Ireland has always been able to draft. Except for qbs. Good thing we got that for now

They haven't played a down in the NFL. Wait a few years before you declare this draft a success or failure.

Also u should get five quality players in the first 76 picks

Same here.

What I like most about Ireland being here is that it appears at least that the Saints are sticking to their board. You'll still have some misses but I really like how they have approached everything.

If they really wanted Kelly then they could have traded back into the 7th for him. If he was coveted by the organization then it wouldn't have taken much to get back in.
IMO,the Saints going high character throughout the organization allows you to take a chance on Muhammad. One or two discipline concerns can be dealt with. Plus his off field stuff wasn't all that concerning. Got into a fight as a 19yr and accepted benefits from a booster.

Yeah... People are making Muhammad out to have serious issues as if he was arrested for really bad stuff.
What he did was immature and wrong, but i feel more comfortable than that kind of petty stuff than a guy who gets arrested from gun charges.

Don't forget Onyamama we was a solid contributor last year

Revisit in 2-3 years. Rankins and Bell did not have good rookies years. They got time on a historically bad defense. And this years rookies haven't even played yet

For who? The obviously wanted the talented DE. Look Kelly is uber talented but he is a head case. You can afford having a head case at several positions but QB is not one of them.

preach, mate. everyone was ready to crown Ireland for the 2015 draft which turned out to be a bust.
