What is it to you that people can be denied for insurance?

Heart problems?

Cancer?

Diabetes?

Needing Viagra?

The mechanism that absorbs costs of preventing, treating or maintaining the health status of an individual.

Anything diagnosed condition one has prior to obtaining an insurance policy or demonstrating continuity of coverage as it existed prior to Obamacare.

That's a terrible definition of insurance.

Those wanting "coverage" for "pre-existing" conditions aren't wanting "insurance," they're wanting someone else to pay their medical bills.

It's the process of pooling risk to prevent exorbitant individual cost. If an individual is already incurring, or at high-risk of incurring, exorbitant costs, insurance becomes ineffective.

When you get a STD, have no insurance, can't afford a doctor and then decide "Hey, I'm going to go buy me an insurance policy to pay for my STD fix".

So pre-existing means you had that STD before you applied for insurance to pay for it. The agent looks you in the eye and says WTF and stamps on your application "denied due to pre-existing STD".

At least that would be my explanation.

I would like to see it tied to your parents healthcare. You are insured under your parents plan until 26, if you are born with a condition and your parents pay for insurance you have to be covered. Once you turn 26 you can continue to pay for coverage or you lose your status.
