How is this remotely "shenanigans"

As he said "it's a fricking curveball" That's part of the game. Players get hit with curveball's that don't break.

How that series has gone, they had to toss him. Red Sox might have launched a nuclear bomb at Machados next at bat.

Like Jcorye1 said, you have to have context on the whole series in order to understand the ycall.

In normal baseball games, that's a routine pitching error. This series hasn't been normal.

Eh. I think there's better way for baseball to get national attention than fans hurling racist insults at a player and umpires tossing pitchers out of games for hitting a batter with a curveball

What else has happened so far this season that has brought eyes from outside the usual fans to television screens? Publicity is publicity in pro sports, and I'd be willing to bet this series gives the league a boost in the ratings.

that official ejected him so fast that there has to be a lot more to that story than what we see. I would like to hear what was being said before the pitch.,,

Do you watch baseball? It was a curveball and the ump overreacted.

He sucks pretty hard anyway. How you gonna be a MLB starter with a 7+ ERA after 5 starts?

Still does not equal ejection over a 77 mph curveball. Don't give a damn how heated it is.

Chickenshit call by the ump. Only reason he did it is the history between the 2 teams...how the hell do you throw a pitcher out for a breaking ball that gets away in the 2nd inning? Nobody else was hit prior to that and no warnings were issued.

Both teams very well could have been warned before the game.

And that's fine, because Sale threw behind a guy at 98mph the night before, but the ump even admitted he knew it was a breaking ball, so why the hell would you throw him out? Why would he want to open an inning with a guy on base???

If I'm him, I'm buying my catcher a beer for his response to the ejection. Dude lost his shite.

I don't believe Guasman was trying to hit Bogaerts. But, the umpire crew knows how the last few games have gone. Maybe they issued warnings pre-game, and decided they would try to keep this game from getting out of hand. Sure he was quick with it, but I believe he was trying to keep control of the game early on.

It didn't seem like Bogaerts or the Sox thought it was intentional either, as he just tossed his bat and ran to first.

There's rarely a good time to intentionally hit a batter. People try to put way too much strategy behind it. However, I doubt Bogaerts would have been the selected target. Hanley, Mookie or Pedroia would make more sense. But if it had been either of them, there would have been no question if it was intentional or not.
