You're out of your mind. NOLA doesn't have a single five diamond restaurant
But international culinary Mecca Cincinnati does, so ergo it must be better than New Orleans. Where did you find that awful list?

No one is saying Cincinnati is a food mecca Einstein, that doesn't mean it can't have a great restaurant
The point is, you would think the "greatest food City in America" would have at least one.

I will put New Orleans second. My 1st place vote goes to New York, especially if price is no object. My 3rd place vote goes to San Francisco, especially if the wine country area is included.

I've eaten at Michelin star restaurants that couldn't hold some of the restaurants in NOLAs jock. Just saying ratings have little bearing on quality IMHO

If you want to look at a list worth a shite, Nola had six restaurants in the Daily Meal's 100 best in the country this year, more than Vegas and one less than SF. A couple were pretty high up too.

As some have said I think it's NYC by a WIDE margin. I mean you go onto some blocks in the east village or west village or LES and there are 5-6 great restaurants.
You can pick a street below 15th on the east side and find a good restaurant on any one

It's New York and it's not even a competition. Anyone saying New Orleans is a bit biased.
Absolutely agree. Have been to all major US cities and it's NYC by a mile. New Orleans has some great spots but no where near the depth of great places in literally any category like New York has

Can you enlighten me on some good, non touristy spots? I've been a couple of time b/c my sister lives there and I'm headed out this wkend. They don't eat out a ton, so I need some good advice on where to go. I have only had 1 good meal and it was a Jeff Ruby's.

New York is the answer, but Los Angeles might be number 2, as LA is widely regarded as having the best quality ethnic food, in regards to the most popular ethnic cuisines.
New York has the most variety of ethnic food (eastern european, Caribbean, etc), but LA has better Chinese, Mexican, Sushi/Japanese and other Asian foods (thai, vietnamese, korean). Obviously New York kills us in italian/pizza.
What holds LA back is we don't have one signature dish or cuisine (like a chicago deep dish pizza), and we surprisingly do not have any 3 star michelin restaurants, and cities like NY, SF and Chicago best us in ultra-fine dining.
I'd say that NY is #1, LA is 2, NOLA is 3 (based on uniqueness) and SF/Chicago round out the top 5.

ATL, on the other hand, is the worst. Can't remember a great meal for a city with so many options.
When was the last time that you've been to Atlanta? There were 5 James Beard finalists last year not to mention the #1 new restaurant in the country. Buford Highway alone makes Atlanta a legit food city.
